The Study On The Causes Of The Intention And Action Of Chinese Social Protest

The Chinese Society has undergone dramatic change currently. The Chinese reform and openness have made great achievements, meanwhile induced a large amount of social problems and contradictions. The social protests have broken out sharply, which has become an inevitable problem for Chinese society. It is of practical significance for current Chinese society to find out the cause and discipline of Chinese social protests and a way to manage this problem for realizing the synergetic development of the economy and society.In this paper, with the database of CGSS2010, we construct logistic regression model, which is based on the related theories of social psychology, resource mobilization and political opportunity structure, to study the causes for the intention and action of social protests in china. The empirical results reveal that, the knowledge of safeguarding rights in legal, interest relation and the awareness of political participation have positive effects on social protests intention and actions; while the sense of income fairness, education have negative effects on social protests intention and actions. The causes for social protests intention aren’t in accordance with the causes for social protests action. Whether social protests intention could convert into social protests action will largely depend on the factors of knowledge of safeguarding rights in legal and the interest relation, e.g..Summing up the analysis results and the current researches on resolving the social protests, we suggest constructing a market-reoriented mechanism for the balanced interest, and developing the diversified mechanisms for social management. It is a consequent method for resolving the problems of social protests to construct diversified and uniform mechanisms which can effectively stand and resolve the social conflicts. Meanwhile, the mechanisms should include in the diverse objects, such as, the governments, markets and social institutions.
