There are two reasoning in mathematics: argument reasoning and plausible reasoning. The teachers all emphasis on the importance of argument reasoning too much, but ignorecultivating students’ plausible reasoning ability in the middle school mathematics teachingprocess for a long time. Full-time compulsory education mathematics curriculum standard(experimental draft) said that every student should go through observation, experiment, conjecture, proven mathematical activities and so on, and develop plausible reasoning abilityand preliminary deductive reasoning ability in the mathematical thought. Plausible reasoninghas a far-reaching influence on mathematics, student’s study and future development, thestatus of plausible reasoning promote increasingly as the advance of new curriculum reform. There are contents correlated to plausible reasoning in mathematic curricula in manycountries. Our country included plausible reasoning into senior high school mathematiccurricula. In practical teaching, whether teachers pay attention to students plausible reasoningability, what’s the situation of students’ application of plausible reasoning thinking andsolving problem, these are unknown.Firstly, we introduce the concept and theoretical basis based on the study of a largenumber of documents and my knowledge to plausible reasoning. Secondly, we gave a surveyand interviews to200science students and100eleventh grade liberal arts students ofeleventh grade who are the first students of new course in my locality and mathematicsteachers last semester. From the teachers’ survey, we find: First, many teachers agree the contents of plausiblereasoning; Second, many teachers agree the importance of cultivating students’ ability ofratiocination in the senior high school and the importance to students’ study and future; Third, but the application of plausible reasoning thinking and problem solving process is missing inpractical teaching. From the teachers’ survey, we find: First, questionnaire overall score is notvery ideal, most of the students are not the conscious application of plausible reasoning;Second, students’ observation skills are better than associate analogy ability, developunbalance; Third, liberal arts students is lower than the science students, usually good mathstudents have certain advantages in the test; Forth, students do not know the importance of plausible reasoning enough. Finally, we suggest: First, deal with plausible reasoning as important as argumentreasoning; Second, permeate the plausible reasoning into high school curriculum in eachchapter, teaching the application of plausible reasoning; Third, pay attention to pay moreattention to the analogy induction; Forth, the standards of teaching should give the dueposition of plausible reasoning. Therefore, it is a brook no delay task that strengthening the plausible reasoning ability ofSenior high school students, the same time, it is just around the corner that how to evaluateplausible reasoning.
