For the purpose of "stimulating domestic demand, stimulating consumption, promotingeconomic growth, relieving employment pressure", our country began to run higher educationexpansion in1999. It has been more than ten years until now, our country’s higher educationis developing rapidly. The gross entrance rate of the higher education climbs all the way frombefore the enrollment8%to24.2%by2009, and has finished the transition from elite to mass.Enrollment expansion has a great influence on our country’s economic and socialdevelopment and so on. This article analyzed the influence of the enrollment expansion onChina’s population quality, urbanization, and birth level from the demographic point of view.And the author also analyzed country population size change, and forecast the population ofthe right age of the regular higher education in our country, and points out its result.By using statistical analysis and research, the author concluded the following conclusion:First, the expansion of higher education has greatly increased the number of higher education,and offered a large number of labor force for the development of various trades and industries.Enrollment has enlarged the number of people of collage degree and above, and increasedaverage schooling in China. And it also improved the quality of population in China, and itwas benefit to the transformation from a country rich in people to human resources. Second, itimproved the degree of urbanization in China.The expansion of higher education has mademore and more students from rural areas come to collages in cities to receive higher education.And relative to migrant workers, their effects on the level of urbanization is more stable.Number of rural students and graduates has a significant correlation on the urbanization level,and has made certain contribution to urbanization.Third, women with collage degree andabove usually get married later than other women. And the total fertility rate is also lower.Enrollment has updated the view of female fertility, making certain changes in thereproductive pattern in our country. Forth, because of China’s population structure, its general higher education school-age population will reduce some time. And the enrollmentdemographic effects are more prominent.
