Study On The Status Of Mongolian Undergraduates’ Identification With Ethnic Culture

Identification of culture come into being with the contact, diffusionand mergence, even collision of different ethnic culture. With the frequentcontact and mergence of different culture, how the Mongolianundergraduates’ identification with culture would be? What’s the factorsaffecting the identification with culture? These are the major topic of thisthesis. How to identify and understand the phenomena and change of theidentification with ethnic culture? How to treat the ethnic culture withopen attitude? These are my intentions of writing this thesis.Mongolian undergraduate of Inner Mongolia Normal Universitytaking as cases, questionary is used as the main approach. Study exploresthe status of Mongolian undergraduates’ identification with ethnic cultureand the main factors affecting the identification out of fourvariables——identification of Mongolian undergraduates and theirlanguage, inhabitance, grade in university, type of major they arestudying.The conclusion of the thesis are:First, the Mongolian undergraduates’ identification with ethnicculture are variable. Their identification with ethnic culture, Chineseculture and western culture vary with the language they use, inhabitance,grade in university and type of major they are studying.Secondly, among the factors affecting the Mongolianundergraduates’ identification with ethnic culture, family, schooleducation, social environments, mass media are the main factors.Finally, facing the complexity and chronicity, from one side,recognizing the respects to every ethnic group member’s identificationwith ethnic culture is the respect of the ethnic culture, from the other side,as a member of a specific ethnic group, under the multicultural background, how to treat one’s own culture and other culture with anopen attitude, keep and inherit the sprits of own ethnic group and absorb,the advantages of other culture to realize the prosperity and developmentof own ethnic group, is a topic demanding intensive study.
