A Research On The Social Civilization Development Of The City Promoted By Holding The Big Sports Competition

The sixth Plenary Session of the17th Central Committee of the C.P.C formulate a major strategy to impede the development and prosperity of the socialistic culture, blowing the horn to build a super powerful country of socialistic culture. Sports as a typical culture accompanied with human civilization development becomes the spiritual activities and products owned by human beings from the beginning, even makes itself the important force to further the social development and man’s advancement. The big sports competition events, the carrier of sports games, not only facilitate the economic development of the host city but also speed up developing the city’s social morality, social order, social service, environment and city’s culture. Then, these will update the city image, heighten the citizen’s aesthetic sentiment, enrich the citizen’s cultural life, foster social affection, cultivate social character, strengthen social cohesive force, propel the social civilization advancement, and boost the sustainable and harmonious development of the society. This thesis adopts the documentation method, mathematical statistics, questionnaire and expert-interview case study. Based on the principle of reference and emphasis, the author chooses the five first-grade assessment indicators and the13second-grade ones of the city social civilization research to study the impact of holding the big sports competition on the development of the host city’s social civilization. The research analyzes the7th National City Games and draws the following conclusions:1. City’s social civilization is the core objective of the modern city’s development and has a very close relationship with citizens’civilization quality.2. Holding big sports competition events facilitates the civilization development of society. Meanwhile, some measures should be taken to handle the disadvantages in the process of holding sports competition.3. Holding big sports competition events updates the social morality of the host city, raises the citizen’s moral level and changes their lifestyle.4. Holding big sports competition events updates the social order of the host city, perfects the security network, lowers the crime rate, improves the traffic condition, strengthens citizen’s sense of traffic laws and reduces the traffic accident rate.5. Holding big sports competition events updates the image of government, improves the social service and accelerates the maturity of volunteer organization.6. Holding big sports competition events improves the sanitary condition of the host city. Becoming cleaner and greener is the highlight of the host city after the sports games.7. Holding big sports competition events accelerates the cultural construction of the host city, the development of the city spirit and the advancement of its social civilization.
