The Reserves Situation Of Chinese Youthy Fencer Surveyed From The Fencing Competitions Of The7th City Games

After60years of development, Chinese Fencing Team has been one of the best teams in the world. In order to achieve long-term sustainable development, it is very important for the Chinese Fencing Team to know how about the situation of the fencing reserves, which kind of training model is more suitable and what are the problems existed now. These questions were the starting points to explore in this thesis.The objectives of this thesis were the fencing competitions of the7th City Games. The methods of literature searching, video observation, expert interviews and software analysis were used to analyze the number and the age of the athletes, as well as the distribution of the medals. Meanwhile, the techniques used by the top eight athletes of the individual competitions were analyzed to know the technical and tactical application of the young fencers. In addition, the problems existed in the Chinese Fencing Team now were reflected by the comparison analysis of the domestic and the international fencing training systems. The conclusions of this thesis are as follows:The City Games is an important way to train the fencing reserves and to select outstanding athletes for the Olympic Games. From the7th City Games, it was shown that the situation of the fencing reserves was not satisfying, in which the technical and tactical level of the young fencers was much lower than the outstanding foreign fencers. And it also should be noted that the fencing reserves developed unevenly, in which the perspective of Men’s Foil and Women’s Epee was much better than the other four items. Men’s and Women’s Saber carried out still in a relatively small range. And the technical and tactical level of Men’s Epee and Women’s Foil was the weakest among all these six items. The young athletes Sun Yujie, Xu Anqi and Li Fei were excellent, while some others need further development. The spatial distribution of this project showed that Jiangsu province still guided the highest level in the country. Fujian developed very rapid in Men’s and Women’s Foil in recent years, while Anhui had a good performance in Men’s Epee. It was regrettable that the traditionally strong teams, Liaoning and Shanghai, had not gotten satisfactory results for years. The only way to strengthen the Chinese fencing reserve forces is to establish a series of mechanisms containing talent selection mechanism guided and supported by the government and the policy, multi-level competition mechanism, as well as participation management mechanism. To date, there still exist the problems that the understanding of the training principles should be further improved; the basic training for the teenagers should be strengthened; as well as the number and construction of the participates should be developed.
