The Research Of The7th National City Games On The Development Of Nanchang City

As the continuous deepening of the commercialization and the expanding of its ownscale, the Comprehensive Sports Event, which is having more and more significantinfluence on the development of the host cities, are changing dramatically both in itsintension and extension. Judging by the successful experiences of recent events, the CityGames, established by national General Administration of Sports considering it as anotherlarge-scale Comprehensive Sports Event, would obviously bring various benefits to the hostcity than its ever before, gradually becoming an important opportunity to optimize theintegration of urban functions of the city and to adjust the city`s overall planning andlayout. The holding of the City Games could catalyze a faster transformation from the oldappearance of the city to a newly constructed metropolis, and provide inward power for thesustainable development of the host city.The7thCity Games which was held in Nanchang in Oct2011, is the first time ever thatthis big event was held in Nanchang since the establishment of PRC, indicating a highconfidence and trust was shown by the party central committee，the state council，theprovincial party committee and government. This would give Nanchang an importantopportunity for promoting the harmonious development of social economy, and catching upswiftly. So part of the purposes of holding the City Games by Nanchang reside in what canthe Game bring to Nanchang, namely providing the chances to fully explore and well utilizethe Games`potential resources and values behind, realizing a saltatory development both inthe society and the economy.By Methods of Documentation, Interviewing, Field Survey, logical Induction etc, thisarticle from the perspective of the city`s development, deeply investigated and analyzedthe preparation and managing works during the Games, and discussed in detail the variousinfluences of The7thCity Games on the development of Nanchang city, according to fivepenetration points, namely the politics of the city, the economy of the city, the culture of thecity, the construction of the city and the city environment.RESULTS.1. The layout of the construction location of the gymnasium and stadiumfor the Games met the general development plan, namely “Expanding Westward, ExploringEastward, Reclaiming Northward and Developing Southward”, not only enlarging the cityspace, but also polarizing the urban functions. It is suggested that the Nanchang municipalgovernment should pay more efforts to invest in the city`s infrastructure construction, especially those that highly related to the basic livelihood of the citizens, in a bid toimprove the urban ecological living environment, optimize the urban functions, and at theend build a genuine international bigalopolis.2. The7thCity Games further increased thepopularity of Nanchang. It is suggested that Nanchang as a “RED REVOLUTIONARYCRADLE”, should continue to advocate its Red Culture and win its own unique prestige byholding various events such as sports events, influential fairs or exhibitions etc.3. On theone hand, part of the benefits that the Games brought to Nanchang was the drive on theinvestment attraction, accelerating the process of optimizing the industrial structure,making an extensive influence on Nanchang`s economic development, on the other hand,the7thCity Games further improved the ecological environment, living environment andhumanity atmosphere of Nanchang city. It is suggested that Nanchang municipalgovernment should attract the investment purposely according to the requirementsnecessary to build a green ecological city of low-carbon dioxide, by combining economicdevelopment with environmental protection, and paving a road that can facilitate asustainable development.4. The inspection of the holding of the7thCity Games fostered aqualified administering ability of the municipal government and a higher standard of socialservices in varieties of items. It is suggested that the municipal government of Nanchangshould further improve on its public administration ability and service standard, shouldcarry out a more elaborate and people-oriented city administration, and fundamentallyimprove the social environment of Nanchang city, and the industry creativity conditions,meanwhile, should educate and introduce more professional talents required in the citydevelopment in the fields such as managing and regulation, hi-tech, marketing, etc.
