The present society is entering into the informatization era. With the development ofinformation technology and digital technology, the link is more and more closely betweenstatistics and people’s daily work and life. People all over the world will encounter muchcomplex and huge dataset. In the face of these unordered dataset, people need to make theappropriate judgment and rational decision-making.<<Full-time compulsory educationmathematics curriculum standards (trial version)>> is promulgated in2001, it divides thelearning content into four study areas, namely " Number and Algebra "," Space and Shape",”Statistics and Probability”,"Practice and Application"; Meanwhile it makes clear that theteaching of Statistics and Probability must make students experience the process of data use, information description and judgement. The teaching should also make students masterstatistical concepts. All these things fully demonstrate the importance of statistical knowledgein the junior high school mathematics learning. This study seeks to explore the juniorsecondary students’ statistical knowledge. How is the development of the statistical conceptsmade by milddle school students? How is the teaching method of teachers in the teachingprocess? What is the perplexity of teacher in the teaching process? The study will be helpfulfor the teaching of primary and secondary mathematics teacher; meanwhile it will also behelpful to preparation of secondary school teaching. The research method includes questionnaires and interviews. The research selected thejunior high school mathematics textbooks which is published by the Institute of East China. We selected four schools in Changchun city, two major junior high school, two junior highschool. In each school, we selected a key class and a common class. The total number ofstudents is380, and parts of mathematics teachers were interviewed in these four schools.According to the students’ questionnaire, we learned that the students had a good grasp for thejunior secondary level of statistical knowledge, but the development of statistical concepts isstill lacking. According to the teachers’ interview, we found that more statistics teachings areimplemented in the classroom, but that rarely provide the opportunity of in-depth community, consolidate knowledge in practice and develop their own ability to solve problems. The research results told us that relevant personnel of the compilation of teachingmaterials make some improvements to make the teaching more innovative and make the formmore diverse, the teaching should enhance a number of social surveys and focus more onstudents’ practical ability. The result also told us that our teachers need to update the conceptsof education and improve education initiatives to make more efforts on students’ abilitytraining.
