Along with the revision of Instruction of Secondary Vocational SchoolMathematics Program in2009, new teaching material of mathematics in secondaryvocational school has come out successively. After the adaption, what is exactly thenew teaching material different from the old or whether the new is suitable forsecondary vocational students’ characteristics and whether the difficulty of the newmaterial has changed is a question under the spotlight. Therefore, this paper isintended to explore the trigonometric functions based on two sets of different period,that is Mathematics (compulsory textbook) published by People’s Education Press in2001and the new issue of Mathematics (basic module), published in2009(basicmodule, professional module), the aim of which is to provide some bases forvocational math teachers to understand teaching material and offer some referencesfor the revision and completion of further teaching material.The paper takes the method of qualitative and quantitative analysis of thetrigonometric functions part in the two materials of vocational math.Firstly, this paper has compared the difference between the two teaching materialsin the macroscopic view (frame construction, class distribution, teaching requirements)as well as in the microcosmic view (presentation form of teaching content,arrangement of examples and exercises). By comparison, the new teaching materialhas made a great adjustment on the frame of trigonometric functions part andimproved the elasticity of contents to show vocational features; the new material hasalso made a new attempt on teaching requirements, class distribution, presentation ofcontent and exercises; at the same time, it has put an emphasis on the application ofmodern information technology and on cultivation of students’ ability.Secondly, with the aid of Curricular Difficulty Model, the paperhas made a further quantitative analysis of difficulty of trigonometric function partand make an extension to vocational education of science, engineering and serviceand make a comparison of vocational school and senior high school. The research hasfound that compared with the old teaching material, the difficulty of new teachingmaterial in triangle function part decreased.Finally, this paper has also put some suggestions on curricular difficulty、writingmode of teaching content、examples and exercises.
