Environmental history is a new field of historical research. It is based ontheoretical basis, focusing on this idea of “Ecological process”, emphasizing theinteraction of the human and the natural environment in the process of historicaldevelopment. To put it into high school history teaching, not only does it strengthenthe guidance function of history theory, but also deepen the humanistic education.This paper discussed the issues of the application of Environmental History in Highschool history teaching.There are three sections in this paper: First, discuss the relevance betweenEnvironmental history and High school history teaching. This part focuses on thetheoretical exploration. At first,it puts forward the core concept—"environmentalhistory education".Then, it emphasizes the internal relationship betweenEnvironmental history and Materialism history, between Environmental history andGlobal history, and between Environmental history and Civilization history, whichfrom the point of view of history theory. In addition, it puts forward the significanceof the teaching application of Environmental history in High school history.Second, explore materials of Environmental history in the text, which is the corepart of this paper. Inspired by the “Three themes of Environmental history research”theory by J. Donald Hughes, the materials are organized by the clues “The influenceon human by natural environment,“the influence on natural environment by human”and “the Compound ecological system of ‘human—society—natural environment’”.Furthermore, the materials are analyzed.Last, put forward some problems and countermeasures existing in the applicationof Environmental history education. Three levels of issues are included here, whichare the content of the Environmental history education, the Concept andconsciousness of the Environmental history education, and the teaching method of it.As for the teaching method, it designs an application cases “cause of Dust storms”that is inspired by Historical materials teaching method of England, attempting toblend the Environmental history materials in Historical materials teaching method.
