A Tentative Study Of Environmental Education In History Teaching In Senior Middle School

The environmental education and history teaching in senior middle schools are all important components of the quality-oriented education. Ministry of Education has promulgated the document Guide-lines on Implementation of Environmental Education in Middle and Primary Schools, in which it has been put forward that environmental education should be combined with every discipline. According to the study content and environment educational objective stipulated in the guide-lines, there is a strong trend on paying more attention to the function of social discipline in the environmental education, and the environmental educational objective and content put forward in the guide-lines have a lot in common with History Curriculum Criterion of Senior middle school. The author made a study of permeating the environmental education in history teaching in senior middle school. This paper, divided into five major parts, explains the course of the author's study on this issue and presents the major findings. The outline of this paper is as follows.I. Some concepts that need to be clarified.It is essential to clarify the understanding of the concepts of environment, environmental problems and environmental education, because the understanding of the above concepts will influence the practical effect of the environmental education. It is argued that the natural ecological environment and humane social environment should be treated as a whole, thus the understanding of environmental problems and environmental education can be deepened on this basis.II. The essentiality of permeating environmental education in history teaching in senior middle school.Environmental deterioration makes environmental education necessary.
