Compared with classic poetry, modern poetry has less limitation in form, and itis more direct to express individual emotion, as well as the freedom and depth incontent. Therefore, modern poetry is popular among the young as soon as it cameinto being. The modern poetry has already gone through nearly a hundred of yearssince Hu Shi published his first vernacular modern poetry in1916. And this nearlyhundred years also contains the sharpest revolutions, the most twists of paths but thehighest achievements in Chinese society of all time. While along with the change ofsocial history, modern poetry also left its trace, leaving many classic works.China is a kingdom of poetry and has enjoyed the reputation for “poem kingdom“since ancient times. As the brightest pearl in the crown, poetry is one of the simpliststyles in literature, so it is always the synonym for" belles-lettres". Poetry has abrilliant development course in China, and the names in the classical poetry, whichare as brilliant as stars, represents its glorious past. And those elegant and polishedverses have melted into every Chinese descendant’s blood. However, with thedevelopment of times, modern poetry found its origin in the ancient Chinese poetryand western poetry.The Chinese language witnessed her development of modern poetry at thebeginning and it chose the excellent poetry in the textbooks to edify school students.However, on the whole the modern poetry teaching is not satisfied since the NewCurriculum began. Students’ poetics is dying down. In order to let the teacher no longer fearChinese, and make the students appreciate the beauty of modern poetry again, this article willdiscuss in three aspects as how to make the modern poetry teaching in senior school better.This article will give analysis in four parts: mainly to new concepts are defined,and the research value and research background and so far research illustrates thecurrent situation; the second part of the old and the new curriculum standard underdifferent teaching materials of new poems in all aspects of the comparison, summedup the characteristics of teaching materials in New and selected poems, are selectedin the number of new poetry increased markedly, and selected content to pay moreattention to the literary history of new poetry, pay attention to the continuity andintegrity, and the selection of new poetry in order to reflect the choice of when topoetry poetry poetry changes; the third part is the high school practical classroomsituation, in this part the author mainly high school students and teachers designedtwo questionnaires, and thus better able to see the reality of teaching problems; thefourth part is the focus of this paper, aimed at the problems existing in the presentstage from teacher’s angle for new poetry teaching put forward five strategies,respectively is the teachers to have a broad background knowledge for the extensionon the new poetry, to open the text interpretation and appreciation, in teaching should pay attention to guide, strengthen students’ autonomy to develop the ability ofappreciation, To be alternatively use a variety of teaching methods for teaching andlearning, and finally try to poetry writing teaching.
