As an important carrier of geography teaching,textbooks play a crucial part in teaching practice.Learning and drawing on the advantages of developed countries' textbooks is an important way to perfect the level of compilation of geography textbooks in China.Based on a comparative analysis of the geography curriculum and geography curriculum standards in the United States and China,the United States textbook "Scientific Discovery Earth Science Geology,Environment and the Universe(Second Edition)" and China's Geography for Human Education published in 2019 are selected.A compulsory textbook,using constructivist thinking,cognitive-discovery learning theories,through comparative methods,literature methods,case analysis methods,statistical analysis methods,inductive summation methods,etc.,to select the content of geology in the two versions of the textbook,Text description,layout design,image design,etc.to compare in many ways,summarize the inspiration of American textbook features to Chinese textbooks,and use the "common landscape types" section as a practical case to optimize the design,and finally come to the following points in conclusion:(1)Through analysis and comparison of Sino-US geography curriculum and geography curriculum standards,it is found that both countries have implemented multiple versions of textbooks in parallel.In terms of the curriculum concept,the geography courses of the two countries are to promote the development of students and enable them to live better in the future.In terms of the content of the curriculum standards,China has integrated the core qualities of the geography subject into the content requirements.The content of the American curriculum standards give more notice to the cultivation of geographic skills.(2)By comparing the choice of the geology content of the two kinds of the textbook,it is found that the content of geology in American textbooks is more than the textbook of the PEP edition,and the content is more complete,comprehensive,and detailed.For the same relevant knowledge content,American textbooks are more detailed and specific than the People's Education Edition textbooks,and the scope of related expansion and extension is also broader.Therefore,it is recommended to highly summarize the knowledge content of the textbook as a title to increase the organization of the text.(3)Through the comparison of the content organization of the two versions of the textbook,it is discovered that there are many columns in the American textbook,and the experiment runsthrough the entire chapter.Pay attention to practical activities and highlight testing and evaluation.The geography textbooks of the People's Education Edition are organized and arranged in a relatively simple structure,which is more clear and clear in structure.(4)Through the comparison of the content of the two kinds of the textbook,it is found that the American textbook uses "design with version of the heart",and the textbook of the human education version uses the combination of "design with version of the heart" and "design without version of the heart".The textual descriptions of American textbooks are connected naturally,and the hierarchy is obvious,and the expressions are more organized.American textbooks explain the concepts relatively concisely.It is recommended to simplify some complex concepts to alleviate the reading pressure of students.The images of American textbooks are colorful.The image of the PEP textbook is large,and the image content is clear and coherent.American textbooks mostly use combined images.It is recommended to optimize the layout of the picture frame and use the teaching materials reasonably.Strengthen the use of combined images to improve student learning efficiency.The textbooks for both Chinese and American editions are only paper books,and the necessary e-books and supporting textbook analysis websites are lacking.Therefore,it is recommended to design supporting textbook analysis websites to facilitate online teaching in a modern teaching environment.American geography textbooks attach importance to experiments and test evaluation.Experiments focus on the cultivation of geographic practical ability,and test questions focus on the evaluation of students' learning process.It is recommended to improve the column settings in order to cultivate students' geographic practical ability.(5)Drawing on the experience of the compilation of American textbooks and taking the "common types of geomorphology" as an example,try to optimize the design of the geography textbooks for high school in my country.Focus on the multi-level division of the teaching material content,redefine the "V" shaped valley to increase the structure of the teaching material content and the conciseness of the concept;increase the setting of rock erosion experiments to deepen the reasons for students to form karst landforms Understand and optimize the setting of textbook columns.
