Evaluation of teaching is the teaching process and the outcome value judgments based on teaching objectives for teaching decision-making activity, and qualitative evaluation with the basic education curriculum evaluation reform gradually developed a teaching evaluation. To promote qualitative evaluation as an important reform initiative in China’s new round of education and curriculum reforms.The paper traces the emergence and development of the educational evaluation process, in qualitative evaluation of the concept of interpretation. Pointed out that the qualitative evaluation of the importance of high school geography teaching and applied research focused on the basis of the literature review, the theoretical basis of qualitative evaluation, including educational measurement and evaluation theory, build theory, pluralistic intelligence theory.According to the actual teaching of high school geography class, qualitative evaluation methods in the study, we have implemented:real-time evaluation of classroom observation of classroom behavior assessment, work analysis and evaluation, questionnaire evaluation, performance assessment and portfolio assessment six qualitative evaluations.In this study, the classroom real-time assessment, work analysis of the evaluation method applied to the actual geography classroom teaching, and six-month empirical research on teaching quality assessment of high school geography class. The main application of qualitative evaluation methods is learning on students’knowledge of geography and geography affect the level of interest. Using questionnaire and geographic test scores as a measurement tool to test the validity of qualitative evaluation methods in the teaching of high school geography.The results show that:Judging from the geographic examinations, all levels of students from the point of view of the geographic test scores at geographic experimental classes, were significantly higher than the control class; interest in learning levels from a geographic point of view, two classes of the geography of the overall student interest in learning levels have been significantly differences, and the experimental class level of interest in learning differences is very significant. Therefore, we can get the following conclusions:(1) The use of qualitative evaluation methods in the process of high school geography teaching can help students master the geographic base of knowledge and skills.(2) A qualitative evaluation method is conducive to student geographic learning and interest in raising the level of high school geography classroom teaching.
