For more than thirty years of reform and opening up, the modern media has rapid developed, and profoundly impacted on the production, life and thought of contemporary people. College education, as an important factor in promoting the development of contemporary society, naturally is influenced by modern media, especially the ideological and political education in colleges and universities. Digital multimedia era, some scholars have vividly called the era of information explosion, a central feature of this era is the diversity of culture, values and the diversification of information dissemination, which has brought new challenges for the present ideological and political education of college students.Followed the pace of the times, colleges and universities have to strengthen the research on the new features of the modern media in the modern information society environment, have an analysis of college students’ideological and moral qualities, political literacy under the influence of the modern multi-media and the new situation, new problems encountered in the process of formation and development, and constantly explore new ways, new methods and new means of ideological and political education for college students’all-round, multi-channel, three-dimensional ideological and political education.In addition to the introduction, conclusion, this paper is divided into four parts. The introduction includes a research summary, and through the collation of the research and research results on the Ideological and Political Education and the Media Research, the research methods, ideas and innovations intended to be used in this article. The first part mainly compares modern media with traditional media to draw the new features and advantages of the modern media relative to traditional media through the comparative method, and then elicits the diverse manifestations and characteristics of the modern media, which highlights the superiority of modern media in the ideological and political education; the second and third part has a main analysis and conclusion of the use of modern multi-media’s status quo, the opportunities and challenges encountered in the ideological and political education through the induction based on the previous research and analysis of the current situation. On this basis, the fourth part of this paper proposes the recommendations and specific measures to do a good job of ideological and political education in colleges and universities. It means to grasp the initiative of the modern media to strengthen ideological and political education in colleges and universities and to build a multidimensional media platform for the advancement of ideological and political education to promote the three-dimensional ideological and political education. This is the ultimate goal of this paper. Finally, the thesis comes to a conclusion, and appeals that colleges and universities should timely renew the idea and use the newest information technology to strengthen college students’ ideological and political education to sublimate theme.
