Research On Status In Quo Of Filial Piety Concept Of Contemporary College Students And Its Moral Practice

Filial piety is the origin of the Chinese traditional Ethical Systems, and it’s alsoone of the Chinese traditional virtues. With the development of civilization, it hasbeen amplified, accumulated, and developed into psychical feeling of Chinese nation.As an eternal humanistic spirit and a universal ethic, filial piety has been leading ournation. The report of18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China justgave a newest summary of socialist core values, it covers the common desire ofthe broadest masses of the people, and it works as a good guide to cultivate socialistcore values. At the same time, propagating filial piety does represent the cultivationof socialist core values. To research and propagate the filial piety not only influencesocial stability, but also is a key to realize China Dream.As Mr Qichao Liang said:“The responsibility of the country fall on theyoungs’ shoulders. The cleverer of the young, the more clever of the country, and thestronger of the young, the stronger of the country”. The college students are the hopeand future of Chinese nation, they have the duty to inherit and propagate thetraditional culture of China, and they are responsible for the great rejuvenation ofChinese nation. There is a word of sages that the morality is the base of success, andfilial piety is the key of the morality. The modern college students directlydetermine Chinese moral cultivation, and exert a significant influence onthe building of socialist harmonious society.Based on the combination of theory and practice, this thesis begins with thethought of “theoretical exposition, survey research, problem analysis andcountermeasure ponder”. This is an empirical research on the present situation ofcontemporary college students’ filial piety idea which adopt the questionnaire in thewhole process. The author found that they are positive, healthy and upward in terms of filial piety and also have a degree of filial piety loss phenomenon, such as lack ofconcern and respect for their parents. It also shows that more than80%of them don’tknow the health status of their parents and nearly50%say they lost their temper andopposition to their parents, even make aggressive behavior, such as abusive theirparents. Combined with questionnaire survey results, it shows that the causes ofcontemporary college students’ filial piety idea are actuality both internal and external.Internal causes are caused of poor formation of their own psychological immaturityand compressive ability, and external causes are caused of the mutual influence ofsociety, schools and families. Therefore, in order to strengthen the their filial piety,following four parts should be set about, namely, optimizing the social environment,paying attention to school culture, focusing on the family education, and emphasizingon self practice.
