As a major social issue along with human survival and development, poverty issue attracts extensive attention.Child poverty is a worldwide problem,and also.in China with the number of children topping the world and rapid change of social structure, it is particularly important to study the child poverty issue.Currently, the coverage of child welfare of China is limited. Special children groups such as orphans, disabled children and street children are major objects of social assistance policies for children, while there are fewer welfare services and researches for children in poverty-stricken areas who face adverse conditions in basic life, education, medical treatment and mental health etc.Thus,this research intends to explore the need condition and welfare satisfaction of school-aged children in poverty-stricken areas.and this study has its academic value and realistic significance.This study is different from previous research.It not only pays attention to single need of poverty children,but also takes muti-dimensional needs as the research focus.Also,in the view of new childhood sociology theory,and using the qualitative research method,this study puts more emphasis on the subjectivity of children,which can avoid the limitation of adult thinking, thus,it can reflect the children’s needs more accurately.This article are divided into four parts:The first part:the review of related theory and research of children’s need.Based on the sorting of need theory, this study defines the scope of children’s need.By reviewing the new sociology of childhood theory, advantage theory, social development theory,this research has formed the theoretical basis and analysis framework.Through analyzing the researches of children’s need in poverty-stricken areas both in china and abroad,I have grasped the existing researches of this area, and have determined the specific research contents in this paper.The second part:research design.This part describes the research design in three aspects:the point of selection, research methods and research ethics.lt describes the reseason of selection in special characteristics of research site and feasibility of this study. It elaborates the research design in many aspects:the research method, the sampling method, the data collection methods, and the data analysis methods.And this study describes the research ethics.The third part:the analyze of need condition of school-aged children in poverty-stricken.Combining with the investigation data,this part describes the basic condition in many dimensions:entertainment, health care, education, mental health, security.The forth part:the reasons for the difficulty of meeting the school-aged children’s need in poverty-stricken areas. The main causes are as following:their own special reasons for school-aged children; external causes of the family, the community and the social welfare system; at the same time, the ideas,the customs and ethnic differences also have impacts on the situation of school-aged children in poverty-stricken areas.The fifth part:countermeasures of satisfying the school-ages children’s need in poverty-stricken areas.In order to meet the school-aged children’s need in poverty-stricken areas, it can not be without the extensive participation of parents, schools, social work agencies, charitable organizations and the government, but also requires innovative mode of assistance for the poverty-stricken children, and also, guarantee for the sustainability of the assistance mechanism for children in poor areas.
