Starting from the gender perspective, this study based on the depth interview with part of first-line male social workers, as well as the usual understanding of their working conditions, wanting to clear two research purposes:one is to understand the working conditions of the first-line male social workers, concerned about their career confusion from gender role perspective, excavating the reason deeply, and combines with the actual conditions of the current domestic social work professionalization development, to put forward the corresponding solution suggestions from the view of government, society, institutions, peer groups and individuals. The other is, on the basis of these reasons and suggestions, calling for the men of the social work profession to go into the filed of social work career, and remain the men who are engaged in social work profession in their post, trying to change the phenomenon of male social worker shortage and high turnover rate within social work profession.Using literature and depth interviews, the thesis is about the occupational confusions of male social workers from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and other more developed Pearl River Delta region. Through in-depth interviews of male social workers, found the phenomenon that too few men in the field of social work career, the reason of the male social work career confusion is not only incorporate the social work career development, government departments, social work agencies and other macro or medium level reasons, but also including the microscopic point of view of peer groups, family, male social workers personal point of reason.Through research, the author points out the biggest bottleneck restricting the male social worker career development is that the low wages and promotion mechanism is not sound, is also the biggest cause of male social workers left after two years turned. The author points out that for relieving the front-line social workers’ occupational confusion, demand the institutions and employers to enhance the attention to the male social workers, not only to care about their work, but also more to care about their life and physical and mental health, grasp the male social workers’ development trends of all aspects and multi-angle. At the same time, it also requires the joint efforts of the government, society, supervision, peer groups, as well as male social workers.
