Study On The Status Of Social Support Of Urban Empty Nesters And The Intervention Of Social Work

"Bucket efficiency" of Management pointed out that, the capacity of the bucket based on the shortest board, but not the longest one. That is, the length of the shortest board determines the level of the development of whole thing. This kind of efficiency also applies to social life. All kinds of social form do have social risk, and it burst out in the social group which has the lowest capacity frequently. Related study shows that, because of the increasing population movements, the increasing only children family and life expectancy, large number of empty-nest families exist in our city. Old people group has established close contact with other groups of society by the values, that the family value of affect intergenerational relationship, the economic value of affect industrial development and the culture value of the ethical standards. However, the empty-nesters as vulnerable group in society, it has the features as the low-level of quality of life and vulnerability of endurance. The problem of empty-nester in economic, social and spiritual has been gradually revealed, which has seriously affected the physical and mental health of the elderly. Under the influence of related factors, it’s difficult for empty-nesters to be out of the woods through their own efforts.This article take eight empty-nesters of the F community of Nanjing for object of study, through the method of literature and case interview to collect information Inspection from the three dimensions of economic, life and the spirit of the empty nesters access to social support status. Making analysis of the main needs in the support of empty-nesters, then this paper attempts to propose a solution thinking to improve the social support of empty-nesters, by referencing to social work practice universal process and borrowing some related theoretical study and work skills from the social work perspective.
