Our country has entered an aging society at the beginning of this century, as the decline of the birthrate and the extension of the average expectant life-span, the challenge what we facing is aging society. With the increase of nuclear family, the empty nester will increase quickest in the coming decades. In the rapid transformation of society, the empty nester is the social vulnerable group for their anile bodies, weakening resistance against disease and relatively slender incomes, all of those should be well-researched research. How to carry on the project of elderly care is not only important to their quality of daily life, but also affects the development of harmony society. Then, as the increasingly vulnerable group, about what kind of support the elderly person can get from society that influenced by social changes (e.g. marketlization of social economic, division and integration of social class and cultural multiplication etc.), who takes the responsibility of looking after the empty nester, whether the support meet the need of this special group, a series of problem that we should pay attention.This paper will focus on the medium-sized northern city-Linfen (development of social economic and the differentiation of social class are relatively slow compared with Beijing and Shanghai) to analyze the situation of social support and characteristic of empty nester. This Survey shows that: About the social support of city empty nester, inspirit support and living support mainly rely on strong relationship, sociality support provide by the weak relationship; Most of the elderly were satisfied with the living support, but they believed that lack of inspirit support and sociality support; The city empty nester Pension can not simply rely on home, essential community support are very useful and necessary.
