According to the target of the overall value of the social development and on the basis ofthe profound critique and reflection about the real state of the social and personal moral lives,the moral ideal is the desire of improving the social moral relationship and moral practice andthe pursuit of the perfect model and ideal personality. The moral ideal is sublime or vulgarinfluences the sense of the people’s moral responsibility to fulfill the social obligationconsciously; influences the people’s moral choices and the citizens’ moral level. Collegestudents is a special and important group in the society. They will enter the mainstreamsociety finally and their moral ideal is high or low will produce important influences in thewhole society.With the accelerating process of the economic globalization, the outlook of value of theconsumerism and its way of life in the Western Countries tend to spreading around the world.What’s more, at present China is in her period of transition and with the deeper and deeperextent of opening to the outside world, the trend of consumerism expands day after day. Theconsumption of some people only pay attention to the symbolic significance of thecommodities. As a result, the consumption shows the characteristics of deformity and luxury;the mental consumption has become superficial and vulgar; the spiritual life appears empty.The opening character of our society decides that the college students are affected by theconsumerism too. The consumerism focus on material and superficial experience however,the moral ideal focus on spirit and deep level experience, these two are diametrically opposed.Under the temptations of the consumerism, the university students’ moral ideal has tended tobeing weakened. Study the moral ideal problems of the college students under the influenceof the consumerism not only has important significance to improve the university students’moral level and standard, but also has important significance to the healthy development ofthe moral state of the whole society.This thesis takes the consumerism as the research background; takes the collegestudents’ moral ideal as the view of study. Using relative theories of ethics, the thesis makes asystematic carding and induction about the consumerism and the students’ moral ideal and analyzes the performance and reasons of the weakening moral ideal under the influence ofconsumerism. The thesis discusses with emphasis the principles and methods of practice toget rid of the effects of consumerism and to model the students’ moral ideal. The thesisdiscusses the theme in four parts.The first part is the introduction which introduces and analyzes from the aspects of thesignificance of theme of the thesis, the present study state about the theme, the study ideasand the study methods with the aim to explain the feasibility, necessity and reality of choosingthis theme: the students’ weakening moral ideal under the influence of the consumerism.The second part interprets the relatives theories about the consumerism and the collegestudents’ moral ideal. This part analyzes the connotation and character of the consumerismand criticizes it from the view of ethics. In addition, this part analyzes the connotation of themoral ideal and discusses with emphasis the effects caused by building a good moral ideal,the moral ideal that the college students should have and the characters of the presentstudents’ moral ideal.The third part analyzes the performance and the reasons of the weakening moral idealunder the influence of the consumerism. In the recent years the consumerism has expanded inlarge scale, so it’s unavoidable that the college students be affected, which means a big impactfor the building of the students’ moral ideal. As a result the students’ moral ideal appearscharacters such as superficialness, utilitarianism and secularism. Apart from the influence ofthe consumerism, the factors of colleges or universities and the college students themselvesare reasons which cause the weakening moral ideal, for example, the methods of the moraleducation of the universities lacks flexibility and the students haven’t established stably thethree important outlooks: view of world, outlook on life and outlook of value.The forth part is the most important in the thesis which analyzes the necessity, theprinciples and the methods of modeling the college students’ moral ideal under the influenceof the consumerism. When it comes to the necessity to modeling the college students’ moralideal,from the point of view of the society, the inheritance and improvement of the excellenttraditional consumption culture and the establishment of ethic conception of consumptionwhich can promote the social harmony need that the college students have good moral ideal. From the point of view of universities, the establishment of good moral ideal will help theuniversities get rid of bad consumption phenomena and enhance level of the spiritual life inthe campus. From the point of view of the college students, modeling their moral ideal willhelp resist the distortion of their three important outlooks and the misleading conducts causedby the consumerism. The college students’ moral ideal modeling must adhere to these threeprinciples: the principle of openness, of subjectivity and the principle of harmony and unity ofthe reality and transcendence. About the methods to model the students’ moral ideal, the thesisemphasizes especially the optimization of the social atmosphere in which the modeling of thestudents’ moral ideal is realized; the improvement of the moral education of the collegestudents; the function of the college students’ subjective initiative in building their own moralideal and other requirements and countermeasures. |
