Great China, since the beginning of the world to the destruction of the Qing dynasty,experienced the most various social forms: slave society, feudal society, semi-colonial andsemi-feudal society, and the socialist society. Since the implementation of the newcurriculum reform in junior middle school and senior middle school in the autumn of2004,history teaching has experienced a series of teaching reform and curriculum reform. Thecultivation of various consciousness is put forward in the "three dimension objects" of historycurriculum, among which "legal consciousness" is "to set up multiple human civilizationcommon development of modern consciousness" and is part of emotion manner valuescultivation. The situation is it is lack of implement in history teaching class. For this reason, itis necessary to explore the legal consciousness of students training effective ways. So theauthor conforms to the new curriculum reform requirements, combine with the middle schoolhistory teaching practice and comprehensive domestic and foreign related education theoryand wrote this paper, with the purpose of researching effective methods to cultivate the legalconsciousness. By taking practical knowledge for learning, knowing and using, the process ofdharma on stage and ultimate overall evaluation, to promote students’ legal consciousnesstraining and improve for the realization of the grand goal of "legal governance", attract morepeople to join this almost blank research territory for mining, cultivation, sowing, harvestingand promotion.In order to make the cultivation of the legal consciousness in this research more effective,feasible, smooth, the author composes various teaching cases with clear goals and effectivemeasures, designs corresponding teaching activities including classroom interaction andoutdoor practice to promote the development of students, which gives full consideration tothe different teaching tasks, teaching goals, teaching contents, teaching environment andconditions, and many other factors under the teachers’ leading role and students’ main bodystatus with a view to foster the cultivation of the legal consciousness, improve the ability tounderstand, analyze, solve problems with a legal consciousness, as well as make progress inthe emotions, attitudes and values education. This paper is divided into five parts:The first part describes the research background, reviews the domestic and foreignliterature, paradigms and methods, discuses some core concepts discussed in this paper,which defines the legal consciousness as democracy, equality, freedom, power interacting,rights and obligations, procedures, popular sovereignty and so on. The second part mainlyexplores the necessity and feasibility of cultivation of legal consciousness in middle schoolhistory teaching. The third part overviews the present middle school history textbooks andsummarizes relative materials and contents about legal consciousness education, includingideas of democracy, equality, freedom, popular sovereignty, entity and procedure etc. whichwe still advocate until today. The fourth part focuses on the cultivation strategies andmethods, such as lecturing, situational teaching, practice teaching, multimedia network as aneffective auxiliary teaching tool in history classroom. The fifth part reminds some mattersneeding attention during the cultivation of legal consciousness in middle school education.This study can be taken as a new exploration on middle school history teaching, whichadheres to the historical materialism and scientific education theory, combines various historycurriculum contents with flexible teaching methods, stimulates students’ interest in learninglaws, cultivates students’ legal consciousness, helps students absorb wisdom from the vasthistory culture, lays a firm foundation for the lifetime legal literacy. At the same time thispaper also hopes to improve the classroom efficiency, reduce the burdens on teachers andstudents, revolutionize the traditional teaching method of “teachers-teach and students-learn”mode and finally get the ideal teaching results of win-win.
