Historical consciousness is a central category of history teaching. It is also the true meaning of the learning of history and the study of history for us. Cultivating middle school students’accurate, objective historical consciousness is a worldwide problem in history teaching. However, the general lack of historical consciousness of middle school students is the biggest problem in the teaching of history in middle school in china.What is the historical consciousness? History educators have no uniform view. They have five major observations. They think that history consciousness is a history sense that the intuitive and imaginative feeling, and mood, and experience of people on history characters, and history event, and history phenomenon.;is a historical thinking of crossing time and space to examine history, and criticize reality; is people’s attitude to history; is history emotion, and values. In my opinion, historical consciousness refers to the knowledge of the past. In order to get the knowledge of the past, people use the certain ways of thinking to describe and collate their memories of the past and others’memories of the past (refers to the historical materials and the historical understanding that historians use historical materials to get) in the course of observing, feeling, thinking history. This understanding is not only an understanding of history itself, but also understanding of the objective law of historical development. It can be used to know reality, understand reality and guide reality. On the basis, we can anticipate and look forward to the future. In short, the historical consciousness is people’s understanding of the past. Because of this consciousness, we can keep development and progress from ignorance to civilization.Cultivating middle school students’ historical consciousness has very important significance:Cultivating middle school students’ historical consciousness contributes to the formation of the sense of national identity, and the establishing of the national spirit and national consciousness; helps middle school students to develop historical thinking skills and develop critical spirit; helps students to understand the reality better and thinking about the future.How to train the students’ historical consciousness effectively in history teaching in middle school.I think, we should grasp the following three aspects:the history curriculum, history teaching in implementation, history teachers. In history courses, I think implementing and fulfilling the history curriculum standards are the main ways and methods of cultivating middle school students’ historical consciousness. The reason is that the process of cultivating students’historical consciousness is a process of the formation of historical cognition and the obtain of method of historical cognition. History teaching in middle schools is the main way that high school students gain historical knowledge and its methods.(History teaching in middle school is the process of historical knowledge teaching, capacity-building, ideological education. It is the process of the practice of history curriculum standard.)When we carry out and implement history curriculum standard, we should pay attention to the following points:in terms of historical knowledge: when we cultivate middle school students’ historical consciousness, we should grasp historical figures; we should grasp historical events, historical phenomenon, and add historical background knowledge; we should grasp historical clues, accumulate continuous history knowledge and grasp the historical concept. In terms of capacity and methods:’the theory comes out from the history’ is the most basic method of historical cognition and it is historical accomplishment that middle school students should have; Historical thinking ability is the nucleus of the ability of history, and it is also the basis of historical consciousness. In terms of emotion, attitude and values:The national spirit and cultural identity are the cores of emotion, attitude and values, and it is the most important function of historical consciousness. In addition, in terms of history teaching:historical sense is the premise of historical consciousness, history lessons should reflect epochal character of history accurately; Historical consciousness is the core of the teaching method of history. The teaching method of historical sources and the teaching method of the exploring of problem contribute to the cultivation of middle school students’ historical consciousness. Finally, in terms of history teachers:history teachers should change their traditional values of historical education and improve teachers’professional qualities.
