Research On Quality Improvement Of Undergraduate Thesis In Independent College

Since the21st century, China has made a great achievement in the development of higher education. With the constant expansion of the school size, a group of independent colleges, which are running according to the new system and mode, have developed rapidly. The people’s demands for receiving higher education are met increasingly. Meanwhile, the quality of talent training of undergraduate is gaining wide concern from the society. Among it, an important index to measure the quality of talent training is the quality of undergraduate thesis.As an important part of undergraduate teaching program, undergraduate thesis means a kind of preliminary training, where students apply comprehensively their learned basic theory and professional knowledge and skills and receive scientific research activity. It is also a stage of comprehensive practical teaching, where students master the basic approach of scientific research and form an ability of independent work. Writing of undergraduate thesis is a progress of recombination and developing of the acquired knowledge and ability, and also a progress of reacquainting and gathering the learning outcomes. Through strong writing of undergraduate thesis, students can improve their ability of finding, analyzing and solving problems; meanwhile. students can enhance their ability of effective integration of practical experience and theory.However, in recent years, because of all kinds of objective reasons, in the process of actual operation, it is difficult to implement the rules and regulations established by the teaching management department of colleges and universities. Instructors and students don’t pay sufficient attention to undergraduate thesis, resulting in the quality reduction of thesis and the formalization of teachers’guidance and supervision. Therefore, the key to manage undergraduate thesis well is how to strengthen the thesis process management and how to improve the measures of quality monitoring.As an undergraduate college, independent college is facing the problems same as other colleges in the aspect of thesis management work. However, they are different in the assignation of teaching recourses and the teaching process, therefore, independent college is facing with some special challenges. Based on the classification and evaluation on the situation and the characteristics of schooling, this thesis focuses on establishing the teaching objectives of undergraduate thesis by making investigation and study of its developing conditions. The thesis makes analysis of its current status. makes use of research results and practical experiences in the aspect of probing and improving the quality of undergraduate thesis, and puts forward with the suggestions to improve the undergraduate thesis management from six angles of "bringing forward the training of thesis writing, exploitation of selecting topic, reforming the management of thesis proposal, developing the system of thesis evaluation, establishing the scientific scoring system of thesis and setting up the incentive and restraint mechanism". And it proposes to set up a quality monitoring system of "selecting topic inspection, thesis proposal inspection, midterm inspection and later inspection", covering the whole process of writing a thesis.
