Academic procrastionation refers to an irrational action tendency of the studentswho have enough time and energy to do an essential study task but get used toconstantly put off it. Through relative analysis on academic procrastionation, wefound that domestic study of the theory of the academic procrastionation’s structure islimited, and lack of questionnaire which is suitable for domestic pupils and complieswith psychometrics. Especially, there’s seldom research on the link of students’academic procrastionation and the relationship between teachers and students, whichis one of the key factor affecting academic procrastionation of primary schoolstudents. Therefore, compiling suitable questionnaire for primary school students inrelated research, as well as studying the link of the relationship between teachers andstudents and the students’ academic procrastionation are valuable subjects in this field. This research mainly adopted questionnaire survey, took3-6grade of primaryschool children as object, and explored basic characteristics of academicprocrastionation of pupils graded3-6. Besides, it also studied how the relationshipbetween teachers and students influence academic procrastionation for elementaryschool students. Specific empirical research in this paper included the following threeaspects:First, on the basis of literature review, open questionnaire and interview, alsoexpert consultation, by method of exploratory factor analysis and verification factoranalysis method, we determined the structure of the questionnaire for pupils’academic procrastionation. The questionnaire we formulated consisted of threedimensions: the complement of learning behavior delay, deficiency of learning planand executive power, also passive attitude to study. The questionnaire we developed had good reliability and validity, and met the requirements of psychometry. Thus itcan be used survey tools for pupils’ academic procrastionation. At the same time, according to results of previous research and investigation on teachers in charge, levelstandard of primary school students’ academic procrastionation was established.Second, through questionnaire survey in Wenzhou elementary school students ofgrade3-6, we reaveled the present situation of academic procrastionation in primaryschools, and the differences of the pupils’ gender, grade and school. As our resultshowed, the distribution of pupils’ academic procrastionation was basically normaldistribution and the status of procrastionation is not very serious. Concerned to thedifferences, it is found that:(1)There existed significant gender differences, to beexact, boys scored much higher in academic procrastionation, complement of learningbehavior delay, and passive attitude to study.(2)The degree of non-only children’sacademic procrastionation was significantly higher than only children.(3) There wereobvious grade differences of the total score and dimensions of academicprocrastionation. To be specific, grade3scored highest, followed by grade5and6,and grade4scored lowest, which revealed that academic procrastionation in grade3was the most serious, but much better in grade4.(4) Academic procrastionation indifferent schools also showed dramatic differences, such as it was most serious inaverage elementary school, while it was almost the same in key primary school andexcellent elementary school. Finally, we systematically analyzed the link of the relationship between teachersand students and students’ academic procrastionation through correlation analysis andregression analysis. The results demonstrated that: The total score of3-6gradedpupils’s academic procrastionation was obviously negatively correlated with theintimacy and emotional attachment of the relationship between teachers and students, while it was positively correlated with conflict and avoidance of the relationship; Theintimacy and avoidance of the relationship between teachers and students hadprediction function on academic procrastionation; According to the study of therelationship between teachers and the students who are respectively in three differentlevels of academic procrastination, we found that as degree of academicprocrastionation aggravating, intimacy and emotional attachment exhibitedstraight-line decline trend, while conflict and avoidance tended to rise.
