The Contemporary college students on the developmental stage of psychological and physiological maturity have widely material and spiritual needs which own both generality and specificity. Ideological and political education in colleges and universities is in the area of thinking researching, hence only mastering college students’ spiritual needs roundly and thoroughly, can the goals in the practical work are specific, that is also the vital point to enhance the effectiveness of the ideological and political education to college students. The change of college students’ spiritual needs closely related with the social development, is the basis for college students to formate and change their inner values. In order to better study and master it, on the basis of Marxian spiritual needs theory, combining with the status and characteristics of college students’ spiritual needs, this paper has put forward targeted and feasible methods respectively, to improve the ideological and political education of college students and enhance its effectiveness.This paper consists of the following six parts:Part1:The introduction mainly consists of the researching background, researching status, researching methods and implementing schedule. Both academic circle have studied and demonstrated the subtle relationship between individuals’needs and ideological and political education from different aspects, however, the research of the college students’ spiritual needs’ promoting effect to the enhancement of ideological and political education is confirmed to be explored further.Part2:On the basis of Marxism spiritual needs theory, this part mainly elaborates the conception of needs, and according to the comparative analysis of animals’ needs, summarizes the characteristics of individuals’ needs, including the objectivity, sociality and diversity. Meanwhile, this part introduces the progress of the needs theory’s change and development, the main points and attitudes on needs theory from Marx, Maslow and the modern psychology, also the classification of needs and introduction of effect in Marxian needs theory.Part3:According to the Marxian relating theories, this part refined and analyzed the elaboration of individuals’ spiritual needs and introduced the conception and contents of spiritual needs; on the basis of elaborating the two relationships between material needs and spiritual needs, spiritual production and spiritual needs, it also summarized the Marxian relating spiritual theoretical system framework, and elaborated the significance of the ideological and political education to college students brought by the Marxian relating spiritual needs theory from different angles.Part4:Taking the questionnaire method, the researcher carried out a random sampling to survey the current main spiritual needs of500students from4different universities, then analyzed the status of current college students’ spiritual needs and existing problems by calculating mean value, comparing charts, et al, and also analyzed the reasons detail by detail from the view of Marxism relating spiritual theory.Part5:From the Marxian relating spiritual needs theory, the researcher proposed the feasible programme and countermeasures to promote college students constructing reasonable spiritual needs system and enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education in colleges and universities. Firstly, valuing individual needs, constructing informational communication mechanism. Secondly, emphasizing the key point, paying close attention to college students’ affiliation needs. Thirdly, Overall consideration, taking college students’ other needs into account. Fourthly, advancing with the times, reflecting the needs of the times.
