Positive psychology is the psychology trend that rises in the UnitedStates in the late20th century. Positive psychology thinks thattraditional psychology pays much attention to the study of humanbeing’s damage, defects and problems. This study makes thepsychological research center lose balance. Positive psychologyemphasizes human being’s positive qualities and strength, promotespositive and optimistic attitude of looking at things, dedicated tomaking the most people live a happier life under good conditions.Ideological and political education should learn from the theoreticalachievements of positive psychology, and its aims should be at trainingstudents’ positive quality, not focus so much on the problems of collegestudents, and it should suppress or eliminate the negative quality byenhancement of the positive qualities. In the practice of ideological andpolitical education, teachers should mobilize college students to learnand accept the positive psychology and give full attention to thepositive quality of college students, stimulate the interest of theirlearning interests. This approach allows students to approach to theideological and political education, and from the heart accept thepractice of ideological and political education in order to enhance theeffect of the ideological and political education.Ideological and political education of Chinese college students didnot achieve the desired effectiveness, although developed during lastingreform and tend to improve both in its content and form. In view of thissituation, the basic research of positive psychology theory applied tothe ideological and political education of college students, establish the three dimensions of the ideological and political education by theanalysis of positive psychology basic content system, to in positivepsychology: build a positive ideological and political educationenvironment, cultivate a positive emotional experience for collegestudents and shape the positive personality of college students.College students’ positive quality is the basic quality of the collegestudents’ inner. It is on the inherent every college students. The teachersthat work on the ideological and political education of college studentsshould take mining positive strength of their own, let them enjoy goodideological and political education environment, improve theirideological and moral qualities, correct their own bad behavior by usingpositive factors from themselves and environment. At the same time,Ideological and political education workers should enable students toexperience positive emotion by achieve self-worth, enable students toachieve their own development and ideological and political educationcoherence, ultimately improve the effectiveness of the ideological andpolitical education.Combining positive psychology with college students’ ideologicaland political education has very great significance, and has an importantimpact on ideological and political education whether from theeducation idea or the education practice. It helps to improve theideological and political education theory system, to make theideological and political education constantly moving towards thescientific. It awakens the college students’ ideological and politicaleducation in human care、 the humanistic spirit. It put more positiveelements such as happiness, hope and happiness melting into theideological and political education, etc. It makes the students to acceptthe ideological and political education happily and actively by makingfull use of the positive transfer on college students’ power, so as toachieve the expected effect of ideological and political education.
