This article starts with the current situation of teaching of ancient poetry in Chinese at middle school, it draws a conclusion of two disadvantages in the teaching of ancient poetry at middle school nowadays:the orientation of teaching is not accurate, people don’t value ancient chinese poetry that much; methods of teaching are boring and monotonous, people pay excessive attention to smooth words and expressions. This essay tries to begin with investigation of chinese traditional thinking through ancient poetics and in combination with different concepts and categories, it finds a new route to properly interpret chinese traditional poetry, namely appreciation of art:intuitive inspiration and rational analysis of language beauty, intention beauty, artistic conception beauty of ancient poetry with the basis of thinking mode in chinese traditional poetics. With this foundation a teaching mode which emphasizes the status of students as subject is established, aesthetic quality and openness of chinese teaching are outstanding, during the study filled with interest, imagination and creativity of students are fully stimulated. In the process of interaction of teacher and students, the aesthetic ability and awareness and love to chinese traditional culture of students are trained, so that teaching of Chinese can really have the function of humanity education and aesthetic teaching.
