The21century is the era of high development of knowledge. With the rapidgrowth of knowledge, the development of science and technology presents twoobvious features. One is the more and more elaborate division of labor; the other isthe dominant role of the mutual cross of different subjects. There are occurring morecomplex problems in the process of further cognizing nature, especially the social lifeproblems. The solution of these problems requires the combined action of multisubjects but not just a single science and technology. So, the comprehensive talentplays more and more important role in the social development.This paper is to practice the integrated science curriculum in middle school usingthe case study method. Firstly, select the teaching content. We select “Science”published by the Zhejiang education press as the textbook on the premise ofcomparing the existing “Science” textbook in China. The Chapter1Section6in thetheme of movement and change was selected as the specific teaching content. Thetextbook has been used in Zhejiang area since1999, producing some teachingachievement and forming the corresponding teaching evaluation system in theteaching process. It is easy for the teaching communication between the executor andthe local teacher. The class practice was conducted in a middle school in the Xinzhoucity, Shanxi province. To analyze the teaching effect better, we also made aquestionnaire survey.The results of the questionnaire survey show it is generally viable. But, someissues appear in the practicing process. Firstly, the teacher’s integrated knowledge isrelatively poor, which is caused by separated teaching for a long time. Secondly, theeducation administrators cannot trust completely this new course yet. Finally, it ishard to accept this new course for the parents who are influenced by the middleschool entrance exams.Finally, the worthy suggestions were proposed: one is to enhance the securityefforts of the integrated curriculum practice; the other is to pay more attention to theevaluation research on the integrated curriculum.
