Teachers are the key factors in the process of carrying out the curriculum education reform. Teacher training plays an important role in the development of the educators and is an important means of improving their professional abilities. Therefore, the training of biology teachers becomes imperative with the reform of the course, Life Science, going deepen and widen in Shanghai. It is expected to aid biology teachers in updating their knowledge, putting forward their specialization process and prepare them for the practice and research of the course reform, Life Science with advanced training concepts, effective training strategies and suitable training materials which meet the needs of the teachers.This thesis consists of four parts. The first part deals with the theoretical foundation and special purpose of training high school teachers, so as to clarify the importance and necessity of doing so. The second part specifies the present situation and the problems of high school teacher training in China since the start of curriculum reform as well as the present situation and the tendency of the in-service training of high school teachers in some developed countries. The third part concerns the training concepts and strategies of high school biology teachers training. And in the fourth part, based on the need of high school biology teachers, some sample cases of high school biology teacher training are introduced. At the same time, the effects of high school biology teacher training are analyzed by conducting a practical research on the high school biology teacher training in the district..
