The research on working pressure is already one of the hot topics in foreign countries. However, our research is still in initial stage. The inadaptability of graduates in their career exploration period is working pressure, which is a major factor affecting their physical and mental health. According to the psychology, each stage of human life has its specific tasks and crises. And career exploration phase is an important turning point in the life, which would influence people’s personality development and worldview formation. The college graduates in this period are immature, inexperienced, and they don’t have enough ability to self-adjust and self-control when faced with complex problems. It would often lead to psychological conflict, and even the physical and mental illnesses. This study adopts two questionnaires "the Work Pressure Questionnaire" and " Locus of Control Scale" and interviews as the data collection instruments. The study chooses180employees from state-owned enterprise, institutions, private high-tech companies and foreign corporations as the subjects. All of them have worked not more than three years. After analyzing the characteristics of work pressure resource, the pressure response and locus of control of university graduates, and the data analysis in the way of descriptive statistical analysis, independent samples t test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis and other statistical analysis methods, we get the following conclusions:1. There is a significant difference among subjects in the dimension of the "work load" in the tested pressure source items of sex, marital status, age, educational level, unit nature, job, work position, work time.2. There is a great difference among subjects in the dimension of the "conflict with colleagues" in the tested pressure source items of corporate nature and the time they have worked.3. There is a marked difference among the college graduates in the dimension of the "organizational limitation", which is also one of sources of work pressure.4. According to the data analysis, dimensions of "work load","conflict with colleagues","organizational limitation" has a positive correlation with the pressure of self-assessment. This shows that individual subjects can perceive their own pressure, and the greater the pressure of self-assessment is, the stronger those college graduates would response. 5. In the comparison of education level, the data indicates that the index of stress response of the junior college is more than that of graduate and undergraduate students. It illustrates that the lower educated university graduates are more prone to have bad feelings when they faced of pressure and confusion.6. More than50%subjects have the mediate pressure response at dimensions of "physical response","emotional response", and "cognitive response". And more than10%participants have severe pressure reaction.7. The university graduates have lower internal control in terms of locus of control, which shows that university graduates in the first three years have a poor capability of controlling work environment and have great pressure from it. They do not have enough power to deal with the emotional pressure. And when faced with other lucky or good person, they would have more work pressure, feel self-esteem and dissatisfied. To sum up, because of higher external locus of control and lower capacity of the internal control, graduate students in the career exploration period have a greater working pressure.8. There is a positive correlation between work pressure resource, pressure response and the external control variables of the sense of control. That is say a person with the external locus of control has a relatively higher pressure experience level.
