Honesty is the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, the cornerstone of socialdevelopment, and the starting point of moral system under the condition of constructingsocialist market economy. The current college students are the pillars of social development inthe future, the hope of the nation, builders and successors of socialist course. They undertakethe task of constructing a well-off society and historic mission of realizing whole nation’sgreat rejuvenation. Their credibility and integrity will have a direct bearing on the success orfailure of constructing socialist course with Chinese characteristics, concerns the future anddestiny of the Chinese nation, which will have a huge impact on China’s economicconstruction and social progress. Therefore, strengthening the honesty education for collegestudents is a response to the era of history, and the necessity to realize the nation’s rise,country’s prosperity.However, along with the deepening of reform and opening up, the shunt of socialistmarket economy system, people’s traditional morals have a lot of bad impacts. When peopleare faced with the temptation of various interests, this makes some abandon the ethicalprinciples of honesty, act in bad faith, therefore, the society has credit crisis. This crisisrapidly filters into the campus; harms the healthy development of credit personality amongcollege students groups. Therefore, strengthening the honesty education for college studentshas become an urgent social problem for universities and even the whole society.This essay applies the basic principles of Marxism philosophy; is combined with thenorms of honesty in Chinese traditional ethics and Western moral system. It uses deduction,induction, analysis and synthesis methods, discusses the tactics to deal with this problem byfour sections. Part I starts from traditional meanings of honesty, credit education and thecontemporary interpretation of them. It illustrates the age connotation of college students’honesty education, and points out the characteristics, educational objectives, and content ofhonesty education for college students. Part II discusses the significance of honesty educationfor college students from five aspects: realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinesenation;development of socialist market economy; construction of a harmonious socialistsociety; adjustment to the internet development in information age; and self-growth of collegestudents. Part III provides an overview assessment of the current condition of honestyeducation for college students, lists the concrete example of honesty acts, and from the pointof honesty education, makes in-depth analysis of the causes about this crisis. Part IV, on the basis of the foregoing analysis, discusses the tactics to strengthen college students’ honestyeducation from four links: social, family, university, and college students. It proposes we mustpurify the social credit environment, optimizes the family background of honesty education,deepens faith education effects in colleges and universities, and strengthens theself-consciousness of honesty education for college students, establishes the point ofOmni-directional stereo-perspective honesty education system.
