Although the migration phenomenon is the process of population’s geographicre-distribution, but at the same time it reflects a country’s economic and social evolution, andit is a deep transformation of the Chinese economy in the process of transition to marketeconomies. For a long time, restricted by the household registration system and the socialsecurity system, China’s population migration can not reflect China’s social and economicdevelopment truthfully. Since the1980s, with the rapid development and transformation ofChina’s social and economic, the changes in migration patterns, as well as the relaxation ofhousehold registration system, Population migration in China has entered a rapid expansionperiod, and the migration of the population was growing exponentially. Until2006, thefloating population in China has become the world’s largest population migration stream.Such a large-scale population migration activities in China which affected by social andeconomic development has far-reaching impact on China’s integration of resources andeconomic restructure. And to some extent, it reflects the dynamic evolution of China’seconomic and social development. Therefore, the study on China’s inter-provincial migrationhas extraordinary significance.This article analyzes the inter-provincial migration population in China from theattracting centers of China’s population migration, the status and characteristics ofinter-provincial migration population in the attracting centers of China’s population migration,as well as the main migrating factors of inter-provincial migration population in the attractingcenters of China’s population migration. This article is divided into six chapters. The firstchapter is the introduction, clarifying the background and significance of this study; Thesecond chapter is the literature review, elaborating on the domestic and foreign scholars’classic theory and the latest research advances to the causes of the migration; Chapter III,dividing the attracting centers of China’s population migration by migration selection indexmethod, in order to determine the spatial and temporal distribution and evolution ofinter-provincial migration; Chapter Ⅳ, collecting data to analyze the status andcharacteristics of inter-provincial migration in the attracting centers of China’s populationmigration; ChapterⅤ,studying the main migrating factors of inter-provincial migration in theattracting centers of China’s population migration by qualitative description, populationmigration model and regression analysis, and to further explain the spatial distribution patternand change of inter-provincial migration; Chapter VI is the concluding part, we make adetailed conclusion to our study.
