Since reform and opening, with the rapid development of Chinese economy andsociety, the scale of China’s floating population is growing rapidly. In today’s large-scale flowof population, population migration characteristics of regional differences become even moresignificant, need to be accurately understand and grasp.Study population mobility regionaldifferences, for us to grasp the macro-scale population movements, quantity, direction andmicroscopic analysis of individuals, families willingness and flow behavior has an importantrole. In this paper,on the basis of Regional differences in types of floating population divisionmethod proposed by LIU Shenghe and other scholars, using the latest data(2010sixth nationalcensus data) made a comparative analysis and factors exploration about the regionaldifferences types of China’s inter-provincial population movement.Firstly, the use of the modified composite-indexes method of31provinces, municipalitiesand autonomous regions of the active population movements divided into four types, namely, the net inflow of active region, the net outflow of active region, the balancing active region andinactive region. On this basis, the paper’s innovation is integrate and subdivide the fourregional differences types of population movement, according to China’s three economic beltsdifferences in eastern, central and western regions.Integrate the net inflow of active region andthe balancing active region together. The inactive region is divided intothe eastern inactiveregion, the central inactive region and the western inactive region.Make it more in line withChina’s actual situation.Eventually, the regional differences types of China’s inter-provincialpopulation movement is divided into five types, namely, the net inflow and balancing activeregion, the net outflow of active region, the eastern inactive region, the central inactive regionand the western inactive region. Then,on the basis of the division of the five types, respectively, from the geographicaldistribution, economic development, social development and population status of these fivetypes do comparative analysis,in order to more clearly see the differences between these fivetypes. Finally,on the basis of comparative analysis,using2011China Statistical Yearbook dataanalyse the main factors of the five types.Mainly discusses the economic, social anddemographic factors.Analysis method is mainly used for factor analysis and regressionanalysis.which is the focus of this article content.Eventually,on the basis of the division of the fie types that using the latest data and thecomparative analysis of the five types and the exploration of the main factors of the five types, this paper draw the following conclusions:First, the use of the latest population data partitioning four types of regional differences inpopulation mobility division with the previous results are basically the same, namely, thegeographical distribution of active regions did not occur major changes.Second, this paper on the basis of previous results inactive regions are further dividedinto eastern inactive region, central inactive region and western inactive region, to betterreflect the same type of regional differences.Third, the paper through empirical analysis shows that economic factors are the corefactors that affect the regional differences types of China’s inter-provincial populationmovement. In addition to economic factors, the main factors affecting the five types ofpopulation mobility are differences. The population mobility of the net inflow and balancingactive region driven largely by economic factors, medical resources, educational resources anddemographic factors. The population movements of the net outflow of active region drivenlargely by economic factors, medical resources, ethnic factors, the cultural level and the impactof geographic distance. The population movements of inactive region mainly by their nationalstructures and cultural practices affecting. The proportion of ethnic minority of inactive regionis far higher than other types.
