A Comparison Of Korean Taekwondo And Chinse Wushu Dan Ranking Systems

Taekwondo is a modern competitive sport that originated in Korea. It is based on techniques in striking and kicking as offensive attacks. The Taekwondo Dan ranking certification system is referred to as "The Kukkiwon Taekwondo Dan Rank Certification" and the World Taekwondo Headquarters Kukkiwon (KKW) is responsible for Dan rank promotion. After approval, the Dan rank certificate, known as the "KKW Dan Certification", is issued.Chinese WuShu has a traditional cultural history stretching thousands of years and this profound cultural heritage has been revealed to the world. The ranking system of Chinese WuShu is based on Chinese cultural theory. The Chinese General Administration of Sport WuShu Administrative Centre further promotes the development of the hierarchical system of standards in WuShu training.This thesis is primarily a comparative study of the ranking systems in Korean Taekwondo and Chinese WuShu and their development. The article is based on information accessed via researching relevant documentation, expert interviews, logical analysis etc. Through researching into the analytical comparison of Korean Taekwondo and Chinese WuShu, summarizing the status of the development of the two countries’ ranking systems, focusing on the current WuShu ranking systems’existing problems, proposing corresponding measures for its improvement, putting forward rational proposals for the development of the WuShu ranking system, proposing the establishment of a standard for the Chinese WuShu ranking system in evaluating a standard and a fair system, as well as utilizing the ranking examination system to set up a department of technique examination, actively expanding the entry of primary and secondary school students into the martial art ranking system, creating a new system of testing from basic to difficult, establishing a universal standard in WuShu training system and improving the WuShu grading certification and social value, in order to improve the standards of the WuShu ranking system, so that Chinese WuShu moves into the world establishing a solid foundation.
