Based On The Learning Style Of Learning Community Construction

Abstract/Summary:
In recent years, with educational reform, the Learning Community is paying people’s attention increasingly. In primary and secondary classroom, learning communities set up based on student’s academic performance, neglect student’s difference in other areas. Therefore, this study attempts to build the Learning Community in accordance with students’learning styles.The article is divided into four parts:Part I:To do the literature review of history and development of the learning community and learning styles. At present, the theoretical research on learning styles and learning community is becoming richer and richer, but the research of building a learning community based on the differences of learning style is not so much.Part II:Based on the analysis of existing literature, the article inducts and concludes the concept, characteristics of learning style and learning community. Learning style which is the learners show unique and stable preference in the process to acquire information, and construct knowledge. It demonstrated the stability and plasticity co-exist, the uniqueness and distinguishing at the same time. What’s more, performance certain diffuse, as well. On the other hand, Learning Community means different learners under the guidance of a shared vision, to exchange experiences and emotions equality, to participate the learning activities together. This article also gives a preliminary discussion on the basic characteristics of learning community: heterogeneity on membership, shared vision on the target, persistent of the learning time, the authenticity of the situation, the flexibility of the identity transformation, and the inter-subjectivity of interpersonal interaction.Part III:Through the questionnaire of cooperative learning, classroom observation and interview, researcher gets some understanding about the class learning community’s implementation present situation and predicament. In addition, relying on this knowing, researcher starts to design the action’s research and arrangement its specific content at the same time. Furthermore, in this article, building a learning community bases on four stages:construct, cultivate, guide, and apply. Some effective suggestions are put forward at the same time.Part IV:With the analysis of this action research’s result, we harvest some achievements, such as successful experience and research insufficient, as well. However, researcher gets the reflection of problems:how to grasp a learning community? Can the learning community based on learning styles be constructed in big class teaching environment? Can the learning community based on learning styles implement discipline? How to measure the effectiveness of learning community?...
