The characteristic of a modern complicated society is unlimited, dynamic and various information, as well as the use of internet、multimedia and educational technology.A fast-changing market of labour division requests more flexible labor force, which will directly leads to a higher proportion of knowledge-intensive work in the teamwork and lifelong learning.. In this way, the modern information society expects that the graduate students will not only have special professional foundation, but also have the ability to apply this kind of knowledge to complicated problems in a more efficient way. An educational research discovers that the successful problem-solving person holds the organized adaptable knowledge foundation,and has the technigue of apply this knowledge to a problem.CBI has many advantages of drawing the students to get into a real problem solution. It can lead the improved knowledge into the future task-solving. CBI is guided by the HPL study principle. And is now adopted by VaNTH in bios engineering education. CBI includes the problem-based learning, the project-based learning and the cased-based learning. Many of its activities have become the link of the instructors and students’thoughts. STAR is the abbreviation of " Software Technology for Action and Reflection". STAR Legacy is a software that can help the designer get the study activities into a explorary period. This explorary period can fully understand the teaching method easily. To ensure the instructor can adapt to this explorary activity according the local resources and needs, STAR Legacy is based on four design principles:the learner-centered, the knowledge-centered, the assessment-centered and the community-centered. This thesis will elaborate on how STAR Legacy construct an exploration-based cyclic pattern.STAR.Legacy education has now become a remarkable research topic around the world.However, the differences on the theory perspectives, research backgrounds and exploration orientations of many researches show the weakness of the system integrity and the theory depth. In this paper, the author tries to construct a more integrate frame of theoretical analysis and guidance instructional strategy of teaching practice based on the international academic achievements and multi-disciplinary viewpoints,plus the reflections of native teaching theory and practice in biology education.The paper applies both qualitative research and quantitative research, and elaborates on the definitions, basic characteristics, core connotations. theory basis of the key words plus the instructional design frames,strategies and case researches of the STAR Legacy.This paper is divided into five parts. The first chapter introduces the background, purpose, current situation,contents,methods and significances of this research. In the second chapter, we discuss the theoretical basis of inquiry learning,definition,basic characteistics,core connotations of STAR Legacy. Chapter3and Chapter4are the core parts of this paper..In these chapters,we expound the purpose, method,form and basic procedures of inquiry learning in senior high school biology class through teaching examples.We show the practice of STAR Legacy by the example such as static friction. Chapter4took the energy of eco-system flows as an example to discuss the practice of STAR.Legacy. Chapter5is summary and outlook。It mainly discusses the innovation and shortage of this research, and its future development.Our research about the theory and practice of inquiry learning in senior high school biology is valuable to improve the education method in senior high school biology teaching.It can improve the classroom teaching efficiency effectively.
