With the improvement of people's living standard and the promotion of relevant national policies,the sports industry has developed rapidly,and sports events have ushered in unprecedented development.Since its founding in 2011,China coordinates · Shanghai city orienteering challenge has been successfully held for 8 times,with a cumulative number of only 70,000 participants.The scale of the events has been increased year by year and the influence has been gradually strengthened,which has satisfied the needs of the citizens of Shanghai for physical fitness and enriched the industrial market of the sports events in Shanghai.Using the methods of literature,interview,questionnaire and mathematical statistics,this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the current situation and trend of the development of the event from the perspective of life cycle theory.According to the characteristics of the different development stages of its life cycle and the problems existing in the competition,the countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.The main conclusions are as follows:1.Through literature combing,the basic connotation of life cycle theory has been understood and grasped,that is,the whole process of things from gestation to demise,which has to go through several different stages of development;Understand the origin and development of urban orientation movement at home and abroad,this project has a positive significance for shaping the image of the city,promoting urban culture,and promoting the development of national fitness.2.Combing and grasp the connotation of life cycle theory and its application in the field of sports events.The study found that the academic community generally included sports events in the category of sports products for research,so this paper studies the research objects from the perspective of product life cycle.There are four development stages in the life cycle of sports events,namely,introduction period,growth period,maturity period and recession period.This study combs the corresponding index characteristics of each stage.3.Through the research,it is found that the number of participants in the competition continues to increase,the theme and content of the event is rich year by year,and the satisfaction of the competition is higher;The operation mode of the competition is the mixed operation mode of "government leading,market operation".The development of the competition has many inherent advantages so far,but it also faces a lot of problems and challenges.4.According to the comparative analysis of the characteristics of different stages of life cycle theory,it is found that the China Coordinates Shanghai Urban Orientation Outdoor Challenge is in the growth stage of its life cycle.At this stage,the event has developed rapidly,with obvious growth and increasing influence.5.Based on the understanding of the present situation of the competition and the characteristics of the competition in its life cycle,this paper discusses and analyzes the future development trend of the competition.In order to promote the sustainable development of the competition,prolong its growth period and maturity period,and avoid the premature entry into recession period,the following countermeasures and suggestions were put forward:(1)Increase marketing packaging and improve the recognition of the event;(2)Accelerate technological changes and establish industry standards;(3)Excavating cultural connotations and highlighting the characteristics of Shanghai style;(4)Accurately segment the market and achieve dislocation competition;(5)Be brave in the form of innovation,and integrate development with the trend;(6)Coping with the recession in advance,and actively transforming and transforming.
