Honesty is both good tradition of Chinese nation and comprehensive reflection of basiccode of ethics. As the elite of new-emerging forces, university students’ honesty hasfar-reaching influence on the ideological and ethical standards of all citizens of our nation.Currently, the honesty condition of university students shows positive trend on the whole;however, their honesty deficiency is worth worrying, which brings a great concern to thewhole society. Therefore, this paper studies on the problem of honesty deficiency andexplores practical and effective honesty strategies, for it is of great significance to preventhonesty deficiency and improve credit quality of university students, promote ideological andpolitical education work, and construct harmonious socialist society with an environment ofcredit and friendliness.According to investigation and research on some students in North University of China,this paper studies honesty status of university students, analyzes the internal and externalcauses of their honesty deficiency, and explores strategies of honesty education for them. Forthis, this paper mainly includes four parts as follows.In the first part, it states the thoughts of Chinese and western honesty, to lay basictheoretical framework for studying university students’ honesty education. In the second part,it makes some investigation and research on some college students in North University ofChina, looks closely at honesty status of university students and summarizes goodperformance of honesty and specific performance of honesty deficiency. In the third part,the causes of honesty deficiency of some students is analyzed. This paper proposes that thecauses of honesty deficiency cannot ignore the impact of external factors, and it also shouldconsider the effect of college students themselves. Generally speaking,the external causescome down to society, colleges and family, while the internal causes include moral cognitiondeficiency, instability of values, conformist mentality and inconsistency of knowing and doing.The last part analyzes the effective strategies of strengthening honesty education for college students. In this part, it puts forward strategies of honesty education from different point ofview, including optimization of college students’ honesty culture environment, improvinginstitutional culture of college, strengthening the organizational building of honesty andgiving full play to the role of classroom teaching as a main avenue, to improve collegestudents’ overall moral standard.This paper draws on research results of relevant experts and scholars at home and abroad.The research methods bases on the related papers, research materials, news report, academicwriting and conference proceedings which are widely collected and gathered. The study relayson Marxist philosophy as a fundamental approaches, adopts literature method, questionnairemethod and case analysis method, and focuses on the theme of honesty, in order to carry onthe study of honesty deficiency and honesty strategies through combination of theory andprimary research. This study established in exploration level, and it can inspire the futurestudy on this theme.
