Independent college is an important part of private higher education, which belongs to the publicwelfare undertakings. Its emergence meets the need of the transition from planned economy to marketeconomy, the fast growth of higher education, and embodies the requirement of mass higher educationperiod and fits the need of healthy development of private higher education, which has become animportant part of higher education in China.College students are very valuable talent resources, the hope of the nation, the future of the country,the important power for building a harmonious society. To strengthen and improve the ideological andpolitical education of college students is a matter of the healthy growth of young students and the futureand destiny of the nation and the country, which is a project of foundation, common aspiration of thepeople and hope. Since2008, the first post-90s young students has entered the campus of the College ofInformation and Business, North University of China. The “after90” have become the main body of thecollege as well as the new object of ideological and political education.Post-90s college students have grown up in a great era who will be the body of the coming10to20years of Chinese development with the responsibility of the construction of well-off society and therealization socialist modernization. Grown up under the cultural plurality, economic globalization,Chinese open-up and the socialist market economy, they have been influenced by all kind of thoughts,cultures and ideas. Special growth environment leads to their unique thinking patterns. College studentsshould receive different education at different times, the unique change of higher education studentsinevitably requires the higher ideological and political education keeps pace with the change to haveinnovative and breakthrough in education philosophy and methods. In general, the main thinking trend ofcollege students is positive with certain political agreement and judgment. These students have specificstudy goal with clear position for the future and more rational consumption but they also have somenegatives such as multiple but complex value, rational beliefs tend to be utilitarian and reality, moreutilitarian and enjoyable consumption. Although there are doubts about post-90s students in independentcolleges, we still believe with scientific, reasonable and effective ideological education methods to careabout their growth, we will achieve the basic goal of ideological education to cultivate, shape, develop andpromote people. They will stand at the peak of their time with a satisfy answer, they will be the qualifiedbuilders and successors for the cause of socialism.This paper investigated1000post-90s students from the College of Information and Business, NorthUniversity of China. With interview, questionnaire and literature review methods and the workingexperience as an adviser at the college, the author made an analysis and drew a conclusion of theideological situation of post-90s by using comparative study, quantitative and qualitative analyzingmethods. Based on these, the author put forward some suggestions and countermeasures with comprehensive analysis of post-90s students’ growth environment, which provided useful suggestionsabout improvement and development of ideological and political education work for our country.
