As a kind of human practice activities, the ideological and political education isproduced with the emergence of class society. The practical activities of ideologicaland political education inevitably exist in any class society, and its name is differenton every social and historical stage. As history develops, the constant turnover socialclasses practice their own ideological and political education in different ways, so asto maintain their domination. In our country, the ideological and political educationactually means the education about the party’s theory, the party’s historical knowledge,the policies of the socialist state power and the education of Marxism. The ultimategoal of China’s ideological and political education is to train socialist builders andsuccessors with the requirement of Party and society.College students are builders and successors of socialist cause, and they areentrusted with the glorious mission of construction of socialist modernization andrealizing the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, therefore, it’s crucial to pay specialattention to the ideological and political education work of college students. Throughthe teaching practice in the decades after the founding of new China, the ideologicaland political education in colleges and universities have accumulated a lot ofsuccessful experience. But with the advent of reform and opening-up and theestablishment of market economy, eastern and western cultures blend and infiltrate,and contemporary college students’ outlook on life, values, moral values are changedgreatly. The characteristic of the education object and the existing ideological andpolitical education produced a contradiction: first, the contradiction between thediversity of ideas and the unitary of value guidance; second, the contradictionbetween the complexity of social impact and the oneness of teaching ways; third, the contradiction between fertile effervescent mind and vacuous preaching. In this case,ideological and political education must be based on reality, to adjust the content andmethod of the ideological and political education in the new period.Humanistic psychology is a new ideological trend which arose in the1960s. Itadvocated the "people-based" research concept which cater to the contemporarycollege students’ own characteristics and requirements, at the same time, thehumanistic psychological counseling theory and the ideological and politicaleducation have similarities in many aspects. Therefore, we can learn from some viewand method of humanistic psychological counseling theory to fine-tune the existingideological and political education. In this thesis, I regard the similarities of thehumanistic psychological counseling theory and the ideological and politicaleducation in colleges and universities as the breakthrough point, and discuss theapplication of humanistic psychological counseling theory for the ideological andpolitical education in colleges and universities.This thesis is divided into four parts.The first part:The background.This part mainly introduces the purpose and thesignificance of this research, the research development, the basic train of thought andmethod, innovation and inadequate.The second part: The brief interpretation of humanistic psychological consultingtheory. The humanistic psychological consulting theory is elaborated from threeaspects: its concept, basic content and characteristics.The third part: The necessity and the possibility of the combination of humanisticpsychological consulting theory and the ideological and political education inuniversities and colleges. This part expounds the necessity and the possibility of thecombination of these two, which laid a theoretical foundation for the followinganalysis.The forth part: Some thinking about the application of humanistic psychologicalconsulting theory for the ideological and political education in colleges anduniversities. This part is the central part of the article, it analyzes the ideological andpolitical education in the humanistic psychological consulting theory from six aspects respectively, the goal, content, process, methods, approaches and evaluation of theideological and political education and finally I put up some reflections.The innovation of this paper lies in the selection of topics. At the present time,there are many researches on the connection between humanistic psychology thoughtand ideological and political education, but there is few about the application ofhumanistic psychological consulting theory for the ideological and political educationin colleges and universities. Some perspectives and methods of the humanisticpsychology consulting theory has a very important reference for ideological andpolitical education, therefore, this thesis view the application of humanisticpsychological consulting theory for the ideological and political education in collegesand universities as a research perspective, so as to promote the further improvementand development of the ideological and political education.
