Since the emergence of human civilization, moral education is the national orderconstruction and one of the basic means of cultural transmission. In a relatively stablesociety, moral education has its inertia and tradition, it also has the legitimacy of itsexistence and continuation. But in violent change or transformation of the society, thechange of morality itself, the collision between the old and new values and the newunderstanding of relations between moral and individual will make the problem ofmoral education, traditional moral education from a difficult into the object of thought.In terms of western society, liberalism has gradually become the mainstream ideology.Based on individual freedom, makes a community more than in a more moralprinciples and belief system, in the same social group or individuals has differentethical beliefs Defending traditional moral education is challenged, it would redesignthe moral education, with a view to the formation of a new tradition. We are also inthis age. In this scenario, Whether or not to conduct a general moral education? Whatshould be the content of moral education? How to conduct moral education? Theseissues, with both theory and practice of double significance, people need a seriousface. John Wilson’s ‘A New Introduction to Moral Education’ is a reflection on theseissues and resolution.This paper, with a focus on the book ‘A New Introduction to Moral Education’by John Wilson.John Wilson, as the representative of modern Western analyticalphilosophy, is a still active in the contemporary western philosophy and moraleducation theory of the famous British philosopher of education and moralphilosopher, but also an outstanding representative from the philosophy of moraleducation theory problems. In his book--‘A New Introduction to MoralEducation’,He stated his views on moral education, promote the establishment of abeyond no position, no cultural background, social conflicts of the universal application of the moral education in the new mode. In ‘A New Introduction to MoralEducation’,the author’s argument of moral education starts from the analysis ofphilosophy, using the method of semantic analysis, analysis of the traditional moraleducation in the ambiguous, vague language, concept. It discusses the moraleducation of the social, political and cultural background and philosophicalfoundation discusses the definition of morality and the nature of moral education; Heput the process of moral as dealing with ethical problems, rather than a set to giveyoung people the specific moral standard, reveals the moral education is a process ofa multi-dimensional, multi-program, a long-term process. Secondly, the article describes Wilson’s"moral" defining.And then discusses Wilson’s several kinds of purposes of moraleducation.Thirdly, it mainly discusses Wilson ideas about moral education practice,Finally, the thesis discusses the unique features and limitations of the theory fromWilson’s three aspects: purpose of moral education theory, content of theory andresearch methods. At the same time, according to Wilson’s theory of moraleducation, in view of the existing problems in China’s current ideological and political education.
