Status And Problems Of The Gender Ratio At Birth Of Tancheng County

Since the1982, the China’s family planning policy has made the basic state policy and tremendous achievements. China which has around20to25%of the world’s population has had a huge impact from it. Tancheng county of Shandong province is one of the population policy beneficiaries. Population control is one of the main issues to supporting harmonious development of Tancheng county’s economy and social stability. However, the implementation of family planning policy has also brought a series of social and demographic problems. One of them is serious imbalance in the gender ratio of the newborn population, a shortage of girls.Tancheng county is one of the highest gender ratio counties in Shandong Province. From the basic characteristics of the current situation and the gender ratio at birth of the county, the economic, social and cultural reasons and the harms of the gender imbalance, the thesis has comprehensive analyzed the reasons of the imbalance in gender ratio at birth in the county and has some proposals appeal to the community and the government to take effective management strategies. By treating both the incidental and fundamental aspects simultaneously, Tancheng county will bring the imbalance in gender ratio at birth back to normal level and securing a long-term population and social stability and development.
