The Research On The Imbalanced Gender Ratio At Birth In Hunan Province

Since the 1970s, the China's family planning policy has made tremendous achievements. China which has around 20 to 25% of the world's population has had a huge impact from it. Hunan province is one of the population policy beneficiaries. Population control is one of the main issues to supporting harmonious development of Hunan province's economy and social stability. However, the implementation of family planning policy has also brought a series of social and demographic problems. One of them is serious imbalance in the gender ratio of the newborn population, a shortage of girls.Hunan is one of the highest gender ratio provinces in China. From the basic characteristics of the current situation and the gender Ratio at Birth in the province, the economic, social and cultural reasons and the harms of the gender imbalance, This thesis has comprehensive analyzed the reasons of the imbalance in gender ratio at birth in the province and has some proposals appeal to the community and the government to take effective management strategies. By treating both the incidental and fundamental aspects simultaneously, Hunan province will bring the imbalance in gender ratio at birth back to normal level and securing a long-term population and social stability and development.
