With the gradual development of economy, the professional differentiation hasbecome more and more obvious, and the requirement of specialization higher and higher.Therefore, a large number of application-oriented talents of high level are in need.Dueto current China’s social and economic situation, Department of Education has decidedto adjust the graduation training system since2009to adapt to the policy oftransforming graduation educational structure. Thus, graduates of sports professionalmaster degree begin to have a full-time education. Colleges and universities shoulder aresponsibility of training graduates of sports professional master degree and providingsociety with application-oriented sports talents of high level as well. As for graduates ofspots professional master degree, professional teaching ability is one of the mostimportant practical abilities. To adapt to the need of school physical education under thenew situation and carry out quality-oriented education, graduates education shouldfocus on the situation where graduates are in a lack of practical ability, attach muchimportance to their practical ability, and pave a fundamental basis for their future careerdevelopment.This paper focuses on teaching ability of graduates with sports professional masterdegree in Jiangsu Province. This study employs various methodologies such as literature,interview, questionnaire, statistics etc. It investigates second-year graduates of sportsprofessional master degree in6colleges, i.e. Soochow University, Nanjing NormalUniversity, Jiangsu Normal University, China University of Mining and Technology,Yangzhou University, Nanjing Sport Institute, explores the concept as well ascomponents of teaching ability, and makes a deep analysis of graduates’ situation andtheir teaching abilities. The results show: the proportion of male graduates and female ones is no inbalance; the purpose of attending graduate schools is for a better job in the near future,and most of the graduates want to be a teacher; teaching ability is composed of fouraspects, i.e. the ability of making teaching documents, the ability of teachingorganization, the ability of teaching methodology innovation, the ability of assessingteaching outcomes. The respective ability of graduates investigated differs from personto person, and it can reach the requirement of teaching. In general, the teaching abilityof graduates with sports professional master degree is comparatively high, but stillneeds improvement. Therefore, three suggestions are put forward in this paper. Firstly,optimize the education curriculum to improve graduates’ teaching ability; secondly,reinforce teaching process to ensure the quality of graduates’ teaching ability; third,strengthen the construction of graduate professors and improve teaching assessmentsystem.
