With the increasing enrollment rate, the quality of the senior high school student isdegrading. Especially, the number of students with difficulty in mathematics is increasingsharply. This problem is a big headache for many mathematic teachers. The poor mathlearners are normally thought to be degenerate and lazy. However, there are many of themwho are hard working but their score is very poor. This kind of students are self-abased andneed the consideration from the teachers.According the subjective effort, the hard-learnt mathematics students can be categorizedinto hard working and non-hard working students. Although the hard working students spent alot of time on mathematics, their score is not very good. Therefore, the problem why thesehard-learnt mathematics students and the possible solution are becoming a important questionfor the teacher to explore.Based on the investigation of students with difficulty in mathematics in high school andthe author’s experience, we found internal and external cause for their difficulties in learningmathematics. the solution was proposed for internal cause and external cause respectively. forthe internal cause, psychological aspect of the students and study strategy were concerned,while for external cause, the consideration from parents and teachers are involved. Finally,with a case study, we made a thorough study on the transformation strategy of the hard-learntmathematics students.This thesis consist of the following five parts.The introduction is the first part, in which we firstly pose the question and thesignificance of the study and then clarify the main terminology as well as the researchmethods.The second part dealt with the theoretical base for the transformation of hard-learntmathematics students. It summarized metacognitive theory, problem-solving strategy theory,attribution theory, humanistic theory and theory of multiple intelligences.In the third part, we investigated the status of hard-learnt mathematics students and madethe corresponding analysis. We chose three different senior high school of the same level in the same region as our study objects. By questionnaire survey, we summarized the studybehavior and the psychological characteristics of the hard-learnt mathematics students whoare hard working. In addition, we analyzed the reason which cause the difficulties in studyingmathematics from internal and external cause.In part four, we proposed the strategy for the transformation of the hard-learntmathematics students. We analyzed the transformation strategy from internal cause ofpsychology and study strategy and from external cause of teacher and parents.In part five, we conducted a case study with the application of the results that we got inthis thesis and then we also examine the effect of the results.
