High school students who are in the adolescent stage are facing an instable physical and mental development. Their aggression is greatly high and the consequences that aggressive behavior causes is more serious.This study investigated the developmental characteristics of high school students’aggression by use of AQ Personality Trait Scale and SCL-90in5schools in Chongqing. The research that intended to explore the developmental characteristics of aggression and gender differences lasted two years. Some highly aggressive students who were selected through the survey took part in psychological group training in order to reduce aggression and enhance the mental health. This study adopted explicit aggression mearsurement and implicit aggression measurement IAT test) to verify the effect of group training intervention.The research included:(1)6,583high school students from five schools in Chongqing were surveyed to analyze their aggression status and gender, grade, source difference and the relationship between aggression and mental health.(2) the high students from five schools participated in2-year survey that was designed to explore the developmental characteristics of high school students’aggression. The effective follow-up rate was85.63%.(3)60highly aggressive students selected through the survey were divided into intervention group and control group. The intervention group took part in group training while the control group did not. In order to verify the effect of group training intervention, two groups took part in explicit aggression and implicit aggression measurement before and after the intervention.The results indicated: (1) There was a significant difference in gender, grade, source of aggression of high school students in Chongqing.(2) hostility, self aggression, anger, aggression were significant predictors of mental health, especially the hostility.(3) High school students’ aggression was decreasing with the passage of time. The aggression development characteristics was very different between boys and girls, between highly aggressive students and lowly aggressive students.(4) The intervention group’s and control group’s explicit aggression significantly decreased after the group training, but the implicit aggression of two groups barely changed. The intervention group’s interpersonal sensitivity and anxiety also greatly reduced after the group training.
