| Xia Zengyou is an important scholar in the late Qing Dynasty andeven in the modern history of China. His monograph The Chinese AncientHistory (former named as The Newest Middle School Textbook of ChineseHistory) is the first attempt to write in chapter. It can be called the firsthistory textbook in the modern sense. His historical educational thoughtis also mainly concentrated in this book. On the basis of previous studies,this paper attempts take the book as the basis preliminary review on Xia’shistorical education thought from the perspective of education, includingthe value, purpose and content of history education. And based on thisbook, initial contact the junior middle school history teaching from threeaspects about the guiding ideology, the curriculum goal and the content ofthe textbook, get the enlightenment for the junior middle school historyteaching in order to have some reference value to the present middleschool history teaching.This paper includes three parts: introduction, main body andconclusion.The introduction mainly expounds the research significance of thetopic, the domestic research situation and the research content.The main body is divided into three parts. The first part mainlyintroduces the background of The Chinese Ancient History, including theera background in writing this book and the influence of New historythoughts. Besides, it introduces Xia Zengyou’s life and historical thoughtfoundation.The second part mainly comments the historical educational thoughtand feature in the book The Chinese Ancient History, including histheory of value, teleological on history education and the feature in the textbook content.The third part mainly elaborate the enlightenment to the present juniormiddle school history teaching about the book The Chinese AncientHistory which from three aspects about the guiding ideology, thecurriculum goal and the content of the textbook.The conclusion makes a brief summary and supplement to the paper. |
