In the process of preventing and controlling the 2020 epidemic, the Han Dynasty's experience of "building medicine for those who are sick and epidemic-stricken" was fully utilised, showing that the ancient experience of disaster prevention and relief has important reference value and significance for modern disaster prevention and relief. The General High School History Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition Revised 2020)proposes to strengthen education on ecological civilization, and the study of disaster history is also an important practice in the cultivation of core literacy in the subject of history as it is closely related to the development of ecological civilization. In response to the problems in disaster education and the need to raise students' awareness of disaster prevention and relief, this paper attempts to collate knowledge of ancient disasters by studying the content of the unified version of high school history textbooks on the history of disasters in ancient China,so as to make students aware of the hazards of disasters and raise their awareness of coping with them;at the same time,to appreciate the courage and wisdom of the ancients in their struggle against disasters and to feel the spirit of man's determination and solidarity. This article compares the history of ancient Chinese disasters from three perspectives:natural disasters,man-made disasters and disaster relief, and compares it with the content of the 2007 Renminban version of the high school history textbook:This edition is a continuation of the Humanities Edition, with a marked increase in the number of floods, droughts and reliefs,as well as more detailed and comprehensive accounts of disasters caused by harsh government and war.In addition, the new unified edition of the textbook also includes new knowledge on the drought and 'social relief caused by unreasonable exploitation, and a more focused presentation of 'social relief and 'epidemic control' in ancient times in the optional compulsory part of the textbook. However, the content of the disaster history is also inadequate and needs to be supplemented by appropriate disaster history materials and the selection of typical disaster events for narration.Any historical experience gained will ultimately serve real social life,so it is important to teach the history of ancient Chinese calamities well using the content of calamity history in textbooks.Firstly,it is important to focus on the links between calamities and the political development of ancient China, and to introduce calamitous events as appropriate in the study of political history to highlight the profound impact of calamities on social development.Secondly,to explore the heroic figures of disaster relief in textbooks, using Wu Youxiang as an example to experience the charisma of the heroic personalities of ancient epidemic control. The development of teaching activities on the theme of local disasters is then explored using the example of flooding in the Hunan region. Finally, the importance and necessity of disaster history in the development of ecological civilizational awareness is analysed in the light of the epidemic and the GCSE questions.
