Procrastination becomes increasingly common in daily life, and long-termprocrastination will have a negative impact on individual’s physical and mental health.This study is to research the relationship between college students procrastination,locus of control and time perspective, so as to provide more guidance for collegestudents’ procrastination intervention.With the help of random cluster sampling method,600college studentsare extracted from five colleges and universities to research their arousalprocrastination scale, avoidant procrastination scale, internal-external locus ofcontrol scale and time perspective inventory, SPSS18.0software are used forstatistical data analysis. It was found that:(1)Overall, procrastination is not very serious on college students, but there isstill24.8%college students will appear avoid arousal procrastination,22.5percenthas avoidant procrastination.(2) As for demographic variables, there are significant gender differencesin the procrastination of college students. The arousal procrastination, avoidantprocrastination of male college students were significantly higher than femalestudents.The arousal procrastination, avoidant procrastination of science studentswere significantly higher than liberal arts students and medical students.There wasno significant difference between singleton and non-singleton in bothprocrastination. The arousal procrastination, avoidant procrastination of thefreshman were significantly lower than the sophomore.(3)As for the relationship between college students procrastination, locusof control and time perspective, the two procrastinations were associated positivelywith past-negative time orientation, present-fatalistic time orientation,present-hedonist time orientation, ultra-future time orientation and negatively withpast-positive time orientation, future time orientation. There was a significantpositive correlation between college students procrastination and locus of control,and the external control group scores on the two procrastination were significantly higher than internal control group, and the difference reached a significant level.(4)Time perspective can effectively predict procrastination.Locus of controlcan weakly predict procrastination.
